ZitatLeaders at the church that George Washington attended decided that a plaque honoring the first president of the United States must be removed.
Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia will take down a memorial marking the pew where Washington sat with his family, saying it is not acceptable to all worshipers.
“The plaques in our sanctuary make some in our presence feel unsafe or unwelcome," leaders said, a reference to the fact that Washington was a slaveholder.
"Some visitors and guests who worship with us choose not to return because they receive an unintended message from the prominent presence of the plaques"

I don't intend to offend anyone, but the Episcopalians have left this planet. No wonder it is a dying congregation.

@pookie18 I like you to know how your material gets used! I wrote this blog on my FB page a week or so ago after reading your George Orwell meme. The quote certainly applies to the virtue signaling vestry of Alexandria Christ Church, an Episcopal congregation. Only deluded self-righteous folk who have no context for history and their own shortcomings behave like this. Thanks Pookie for helping make us all better at expressing our pov! TM

Wagging the self-righteous finger at our Country's history and trashing its past leaders has become so commonplace. In doing so, these critics seem happy to revel in their own virtue and in their superior morals. One problem, they've failed to see their own failures and their own shortcomings.
Any Nation that looks back on itself with their kind of disdain will soon lose its reason for being.Today we're living through a self-righteous, finger pointing stage. The vocal critics cry out at others but they seem to think they should be getting a [undeserved] pass. Sadly, these are not as virtuous as they'd like us to think.
Let's just say that each generation comes along and wants everyone to believe that lie, that they are the "superior" beings. For a while they'll believe this lie about themselves! But just wait!
The next generation of critics is on its way. They're right behind you! Right now they are just learning to speak and walk, but they're waiting at the door for their turn and they're coming for you! Just know that when they break through the door, they'll be itching for their turn ...to trash you!
And life goes on." TM

George Washington's Old Church Removes Plaque Honoring Him October 27, 2017 Daniel Greenfield
Another reminder, as if we needed one, that it's not going to stop with Confederate generals. Or, for that matter, Virginians or slaveowners. Look at the history of the left around the world. And look at where they drew the line and stopped. The answer is nowhere. And so we have this insult, unthinkable in the pre-Obama era where the Dems at least feigned respect for America.
Zitat An historic Episcopal parish where George Washington frequently worshiped has decided to remove a memorial plaque honoring the nation’s first president, saying the decision was out of a desire to provide a “welcoming” worship space for all visitors. The church will also remove a similar memorial plague honoring Robert E. Lee, the commander of Confederate Army of Northern Virginia.
The vestry of Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia, announced its unanimous decision in an Oct. 26 letter, The Republican Standard website reported Thursday.
This rash of 'welcoming' spaces and 'safe' spaces never show any consideration for Americans. Only for the anti-American leftists who hate this country and everything about it. Everything must be made 'welcoming' for them and unwelcoming for Americans.
Zitat “It is important to understand that the plaques will not be moved to a storage area,” the vestry noted in its letter. “Rather, they will remain in the church until they can be relocated to a place of respectful prominence where they will be fully visible to parishioners and tourists alike. And ultimately, they will be incorporated into a more complete presentation of our long and many-faceted history.”
Just like the Alamo.
There will be a respectful effort to bury them somewhere out of sight. Or put them on display next to an artist's rendering of Washington whipping a slave and just below a gay pride flag. Anyone familiar with the left is deeply familiar with their respectful presentations of American history. The current entrance to Colonial Williamsburg, for example, respectfully informs visitors that they are entering a time of great racism, sexism and general awfulness. The Intrepid tour in New York City now includes a tour guide respectfully lecturing on how racist the ship and crew were. And at the New York Historical Society, a costumed reenactor dressed as a Revolutionary War loudly informed visitors of how racist Washington was.
Respect.
If you want to see respect from the left, you can look for it in the New York Times' series on Communism. Now that is a respectful presentation. But we respect what we respect.
Americans respect George Washington. The left respects Stalin, Malcolm X and Che.
Meanwhile here are some of the things that Christ Church in Alexandria is focusing on. With actual respect.
