I kinda thought this was the case when I heard of the capture. I also questioned the timing given that this same character has been known to give interviews to news services which have had little trouble in finding him. In addition I wonder if this guy really is a major player in the game. Based on reports he doesn't seem to have had a major role at Benghazi. Oh, well, for inept Obama & Co. any port in the storm and the slavishly devoted MSM will promote this in order to serve their Master.
"Tripoli (AFP) - US commandos violated Libya's sovereignty when they seized the suspected ringleader of a deadly 2012 attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, the foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
Special forces carried out Sunday's stealth operation under cover of night, capturing Ahmed Abu Khatallah near Benghazi and spiriting him out of the country.
"The government condemns this regrettable infringement on Libya's sovereignty," foreign ministry spokesman Said Lassoued said in a statement, adding that Tripoli had not been informed in advance.
In announcing the operation, Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby would not say whether Washington gave Libya advance notice.
Also on Wednesday, Justice Minister Salah al-Marghani told a news conference that there is already an outstanding arrest warrant for Abu Khatallah. But he said Libyan security forces had not been able to arrest him because of the security situation in the flashpoint eastern city of Benghazi.
Lassoued underlined in his statement "Libya's right to judge Abu Khattalah on its soil in conformity with its law, and asks the American government to return him to Libya."
"Don’t be deceived. This is just another case of the administration yelling “Squirrel!” to divert attention from the political and economic Chernobyl it has built over the past five years.
The real lede here is that the administration has captured the mastermind of an attack it claims was a spontaneous reaction to the bizarre little internet-only film called “Innocence of Muslims.” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a statement released while our consulate was still smoking that the attack was ”a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet.”
Mr. Khattala hardly led the life of a harried fugitive, constantly looking over his shoulder for American special forces. In October 2012, the New York Times interviewed him, still in Benghazi:
Witnesses and the authorities have called Ahmed Abu Khattala one of the ringleaders of the Sept. 11 attack on the American diplomatic mission here. But just days after President Obama reasserted his vow to bring those responsible to justice, Mr. Abu Khattala spent two leisurely hours on Thursday evening at a crowded luxury hotel, sipping a strawberry frappe on a patio and scoffing at the threats coming from the American and Libyan governments.
It took a year for the US government to bring an indictment against Mr. Khattala, despite his well known involvement in the Benghazi attack.
Federal law enforcement authorities have filed murder charges against Ahmed Abu Khattala, a prominent militia leader in Benghazi,Libya, in connection with the attacks on a diplomatic mission there last Sept. 11 that killed the United States ambassador and three other Americans, according to senior law enforcement and United States officials
Another year lapsed before he was apprehended, even though he made no attempt to conceal his whereabouts. Curiously, for a man charged with leading an attack that Attorney General Eric Holder characterized as an “affront to our nation and heartbreaking for the families of the four courageous Americans who perished that day,” somehow the FBI never placed Khattala on its list of Ten Most Wanted Terrorists.
The administration lied, and continues to lie, about the cause of the attack in Benghazi despite charging a man as the “mastermind.”
The administration would not have indicted anyone it this case were it not for Congress’s investigation of the Benghazi attack.
The arrest of Khattala has to be viewed through the prism of the non-stop string of bad news the administration has suffered. They tried to divert attention with the Bowe Bergdahl release and failed. They are trying again with the arrest of Khattala."

Right, that Obama is lawless is news? Tell us something we DON'T KNOW!
We're sick of hearing the lame stream media cover his ass at every turn.
That they now apprehend a Benghazi "mastermind" after selling us the spontaneous video cover story until they started selling the "What difference Does It Make? cover story.
That does say it all. They lie as a matter of course and NOBODY is surprised anymore. They're only pretending they're unaware of his lawless ways.

What is great about this is that things have spiraled so far out of control for the Regime that when they try their old distract tactics, it just sinks them deeper down the hole. Just look at this flimsy arrest. This was done to distract from Iraq going down in flames because it make them look tough on terrorists. Only problem is that it totally sinks their argument that Benghazi was about some You Tube vid. Now the teenage Regime mouthpieces are running around trying to defend Hitlary, Zero and all the dopes who are on the record about the "spontaneous" attack.
I'll bet a dollar that the next distraction ends up outing who erased Lois Lerners E-mails or showing Zero personally directed the VA to do a shitty job.
