Dept. of Agriculture Orders Ballistic Body Armor by AWR Hawkins 15 May 2014
A May 7th solicitation by the U.S. Department of Agriculture seeks "the commercial acquisition of ballistic vests, compliant with NIJ 0101.06 for Level IIIA Ballistic Resistance of body armor."
According to the solicitation, "The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General," seeks "Body Armor [that] is gender specific, lightweight, [having] trauma plate/pad (hard or soft), [and] concealable carrier." The order includes "tactical vest, undergarment (white), identification patches, accessories (6 pouches), body armor carry bag, and professional measurements."
"All responsible and/or interested sources may submit their company name, point of contact, and telephone number." The solicitation says those sources received in a "timely" manner "shall be considered by the agency for contact."
On May 15th Breitbart News reported on a Dept. of Agriculture solicitation for "the commercial acquisition of submachine guns" with 30-round magazines.
Militarizing these domestic departments unnecessarily is scaring me! When the NPS can follow the President's orders like he was a dictator and everyone just remains silent, no public outcry? that's when we're in deep doo-doo. Now the Dept of Agriculture? Domestic Military Force that are employees of the US government.

I'm with you. This has been building for a long, long time. The government reaction to 9-11 capped it. Instead of securing our borders, limiting immigration for the benefit of the country (working middle class), giving those in charge of immigration the tools to perform accurate and timely assessments, big government and the surveillance state were expanded - all for our own good and safety.
Under Zero, that which was instituted slowly in the name of good intentions has coalesced and been expanded. Voila ! It seems every day we hear of more arming of the fourth branch of government which answers to the executive and more egregious violations of our freedoms and Bill of Rights. It seems that those who have the power to do something about it have been bought, brain washed, or threatened into compliance. The carrot and the stick have been very effective.

Thank You Algernon. Very astute observations! Members of the federal bureaucracy develop a different loyalty to their Chief Executive than the National Guard, who have a State component to their function. This is the militarizing of government bureaucrats who are by nature, willing and able loyalists, which empowers them to carry out the President's enforcement wishes as has never been done before.
Enter the domestic army concept. This has a unique potential to be used against us citizens! What's the legal basis for the militarization of the Dept of Agriculture? Do we want each agency handling the own enforcement of its laws? Hello??

@Rev they're so busy clapping like mindless sheep, that they're not even listening to the garbage coming out of his mouth. Had they been listening instead of applauding they'd have heard about this scary concept.
A powerful civilian military force plus more gun control equals less ability to resist the new "civilian National Security Force"

Unfortunately as a result of changes in public education a certain percentage of the population is no longer capable of listening, hearing, and analyzing. They are only capable of feeling, and knee jerk responses to code words just like Pavlov's dogs.
