You are looking at it wrong. They are not asleep at the controls because the place is empty. There have been massive lay offs at all the major news outlets over the last ten years because they lost all their revenues. There are no more reporters on the ground doing investigations anymore. Just marquee opinion writers bloviating on bullshit like MoDo and Thomas Friedman. That is why Alex Jones is scooping them.
