ZitatPALM BEACH, Fla. (Reuters) – U.S. Republican front-runner Donald Trump warned on Wednesday of riots if he is denied the party’s presidential nomination after
a string of primary election victories, raising the temperature even further in a highly charged White House race.
The New York billionaire scored big wins in primaries in Florida, Illinois and North Carolina on Tuesday which brought him closer to the 1,237 delegates he needs to win the nomination.
But he lost the crucial state of Ohio and left the door open for those in the party trying to stop Trump from becoming the Republican nominee for the Nov. 8 election.
Trump might fall short of the majority required, enabling the party establishment to put forward another name at the July convention in Cleveland to formally pick its candidate.
In an interview with CNN on Wednesday, Trump said if he got a large number of delegates yet was denied the nomination: “I don’t think you can say that we don’t get it automatically. I think you’d have riots. I think you’d have riots. I’m representing many, many millions of people.”
Party leaders are appalled at the real estate developer and reality TV personality’s incendiary rhetoric and believe his policy positions are out of step with core Republican sentiment, such as his vow to deport 11 million illegal immigrants, temporarily ban Muslims from the United States and build a wall along the border with Mexico.
Couple of observations:
#1 - I don't think Trump is advocating rioting here, he's just saying that IF the GOPe tries to pull some sleight of hand such as seeking to nominate Paul Ryan for example instead of the guys who have already been running and gained delegates, folks are going to get angry.
And he's right. I am not an advocate of rioting either, and I don't believe Trump is either, we are just observing what potentially can happen and I don't believe the GOPe should go this direction. Unless of course they want to go the way of the Whigs.
#2 - Notice what I put under bold font. The GOP is now the party of unrestrained illegal immigration, unvetted and uncontrolled muslim immigration, and open borders? If so, count me OUT. That does not represent my values.
Riots? Rioting Republicans? I just can't picture it? Do they sweep up the glass after they break a window? Leave money on the counter for the booze they're grabbing? Apologize to the policeman before they throw something at him?

I just saw this article: According to Curley Haugland, RNC Rules Committee Member in phone interview
We choose the nominee, not the voters: Senior GOP official Matthew J. Belvedere | @Matt_Belvedere 20160316
"Political parties, not voters, choose their presidential nominees, a Republican convention rules member told CNBC, a day after GOP front-runner Donald Trump rolled up more big primary victories."
Watch video to the end where it is clearly stated that the party picks the candidate, not the voters in the primaries.
I find it difficult to predict what would happen is voters in the primary see 'their votes stolen'. We are in uncharted waters where the old rules do not apply.
I'm certain there would be a LOT of very angry people. I doubt they would vote for Hillary. I suspect most would stay home or do a write in. I don't see them 'holding their noses' and voting the party choice anymore.
The second the words were out of his mouth I saw Chris Cuomo's eyes light up and thought, "OK, watch the SHTF now!" I suspect Trump's radar then went off and he added something about not advocating it or not wanting it to happen (paraphrasing here), but again predicting it could happen.
I've been saying the same thing myself for a month. Nowadays you have to be PC with every syllable out of your mouth or this is the inevitable outcome.
At this point in our cultural de-evolution I think part of Trump's appeal is that he is unfiltered. He just throws caution to the wind, says what he thinks, and lets the chips fall where they may. I realize that scares the hell out of some people.
