Now why won't I see or hear this headline from the MSM ? "George Takei Commits Racist Hate Crime"
Star Trek actor fumes: Clarence Thomas 'clown in blackface' 'He is an embarrassment. He is a disgrace to America' July 2, 2015
George Takei, the openly “gay” activist and Hollywood actor known for his decades-old role in the TV series “Star Trek,” issued a scathing criticism against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, calling him a “clown” for failing to vote with the majority on the Supreme Court’s “gay” marriage case.
“He is a clown in blackface sitting on the Supreme Court,” Takei said, in an interview with Fox 10. “He gets me that angry.”
Takei made the comments in context of discussing the court’s 5-4 ruling that now compels states to allow same-sex marriage, and Thomas’s dissent. But he then went off on a tangent about racism and slavery, referencing the dissent Thomas wrote.
Thomas, in his opinion, spoke of the “inherent worth” of all humans in God’s eyes, and wrote: “That vision is the foundation upon which this Nation was built. The corollary of that principle is that human dignity cannot be taken away by the government. Slaves did not lose their dignity (any more than they lost their humanity) because the government allowed them to be enslaved. Those held in internment camps did not lose their dignity because the government confined them. And those denied governmental benefits certainly do not lose their dignity because the government denies them those benefits. The government cannot bestow dignity, and it cannot take it away..”
Takei took offense at the slavery reference.
.................................................
Takei wrapped his interview with Fox 10 by blasting Thomas as unfit for court service.
“This man does not belong on the Supreme Court,” he said. “He is an embarrassment. He is a disgrace to America.”
Thomas had the added burdens of a broken family (his father left when he was two), speaking Gullah as a child, and being homeless. He was taken in and raised by his grand parents when he was seven. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_T...e_and_education
Takei has been called to account. At first he tried to side step his way out of it, justifying his remarks by the fact his family was interned in WWII. It took three tries for him to apologize sort of.
Sulu doubles down: All I meant to say is that Clarence Thomas is a fake black man who abandoned his heritage; Update: Takei apologizes posted at 1:01 pm on July 3, 2015 by Allahpundit
Oh. Well, my mistake then. Yesterday I thought he was saying something racist.
What did this guy think his critics were accusing him of, if this is his “clarification”?
Zitat A few fans have written wondering whether I intended to utter a racist remark by referring to Justice Thomas as a “clown in blackface.”
“Blackface” is a lesser known theatrical term for a white actor who blackens his face to play a black buffoon. In traditional theater lingo, and in my view and intent, that is not racist. It is instead part of a racist history in this country.
I feel Justice Thomas has abdicated and abandoned his African American heritage by claiming slavery did not strip dignity from human beings. He made a similar remark about the Japanese American internment, of which I am a survivor. A sitting Justice of the Supreme Court ought to know better.
..................................... If Takei’s being honest here and not feigning stupidity as damage control, he genuinely doesn’t see the problem in comparing Thomas to a white actor playing a “black buffoon.” He’s practicing racial essentialism — if you’re black, your position on slavery and inherent dignity is as follows — and then presuming to excommunicate Thomas from “authentic blackness” because, as someone whose family experienced internment in the 1940s, he somehow has the right to do that now. That’s insulting in the abstract and even more so when applied to Thomas, who, as Sean Davis reminds us, actually grew up in the Jim Crow south and knows something about maintaining one’s dignity during oppression. ................................. Update; Third time’s the charm.
Zitat I recently was asked by a reporter about Justice Clarence Thomas’s dissent in the marriage equality cases, in which he wrote words that really got under my skin, by suggesting that the government cannot take away human dignity through slavery, or though internment. In my mind that suggested that this meant he felt the government therefore shouldn’t be held accountable, or should do nothing in the face of gross violations of dignity. When asked by a reporter about the opinion, I was still seething, and I referred to him as a “clown in blackface” to suggest that he had abdicated and abandoned his heritage. This was not intended to be racist, but rather to evoke a history of racism in the theatrical arts. While I continue to vehemently disagree with Justice Thomas, the words I chose, said in the heat of anger, were not carefully considered.
I am reminded, especially on this July 4th holiday, that though we have the freedom to speak our minds, we must use that freedom judiciously. Each of us, as humans, have hot-button topics that can set-us off, and Justice Thomas had hit mine, that is clear. But my choice of words was regrettable, not because I do not believe Justice Thomas is deeply wrong, but because they were ad hominem and uncivil, and for that I am sorry.

Sulu is eminently qualified to decide what is an "authentic" black man and what his heritage consist of. After all he's a homosexual and thus quite sensitive, plus he's of Japanese descent which makes him an expert on everything black.
