ZitatPresident-elect Joe Biden’s Cabinet is quickly taking shape, but there is growing dissent from Black lawmakers and activists surrounding his picks, as only two Black Americans have been chosen so far.
At the moment, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, tapped to be the country’s next ambassador to the United Nations, and Cecilia Rouse, Biden’s pick to chair the Council of Economic Advisers, are the only Black members of the burgeoning Cabinet.
Advocates have made it clear that they want to see the administration put Democrats’ staunchest voting bloc at the center right from Day One. In his first speech as president-elect, Biden made Black voters a promise: that he’d have their backs.
everal Cabinet positions must still be named, but Black leaders increasingly are publicly worrying that the president-elect and his incoming administration will fall short of the pact.
NAACP President Derrick Johnson acknowledged it’s “early in the process” of filling the Cabinet but expressed concerns that the leading civil rights organization has yet to be granted an audience with Biden.
"Granted an audience"? Like with the Pope or some royal personage?
This is what happens when your support comes from a coalition of special interests groups. Even BLM wants a piece of the pie, to say nothing of the far left Gang of Four and that squirrely fruitcake from VT. Joey won't be able to satisfy them all, though unlike with Republicans, they will follow the rule of "no enemies on the Left".
The Democrats who want to defund the police also want you to call 911 to report people celebrating Thanksgiving.
