ZitatGretchen Whitmer’s husband, Mark Mallory, is giving her a run for her money on the most hated public figure to come out of the Chinese WuFlu panic of 2020. The company that launches his boat, NorthShore Dock, LLC, reported that he called them to put his boat in the water in time for Memorial Day weekend despite his wife’s orders that no one should flock to recreational areas and take advantage of the partial reopening. The owner of NorthShore Dock, LLC, posted to Facebook that Whitmer’s husband called and asked for a favor so he could cut in line in front of others waiting for their turn. The Detroit News reported the now-deleted Facebook post that went viral.
"“This morning, I was out working when the office called me, there was a gentleman on hold who wanted his boat in the water before the weekend,” Dowker posted. “Being Memorial weekend and the fact that we started working three weeks late means there is no chance this is going to happen.”
“Well our office personnel had explained this to the man and he replied, ‘I am the husband to the governor, will this make a difference?'”
Whitmer and Mallory, who reside in Lansing, own a property in the Elk Rapids area with a taxable value of about $175,000, according to county records. Zillow estimates the property could currently sell for more than $437,000."
The owner, Tad Dowker, posted a second statement after removing the first saying he does not have time to answer all the media calls but he stood by his original statement. The governor’s office dismissed it as “rumors” but did not deny it.
ZitatGovernor Ralph Northam has repeatedly urged Virginia residents to cover their faces in public during the coronavirus pandemic. On Friday, he told reporters wearing a mask “could literally save someone else’s life”.
But the Democrat did not heed his own advice on Saturday, when he posed without a mask for photographs with residents during a visit to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
A spokeswoman for the governor’s office said Northam should have had a mask.
“He was outside and not expecting to be within 6ft of anyone,” Alena Yarmosky said. “This is an important reminder to always have face coverings in case situations change. We are all learning how to operate in this new normal, and it’s important to be prepared.”
Northam has suggested he will announce a statewide policy on face coverings on Tuesday. At the beach on Saturday, he told reporters his administration was still working on the details.
Critics on social media chided Northam, a doctor, for not practicing what he has preached.

ZitatIllinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker (D) refused to say whether his wife, M.K. Pritzker, has stayed in the state during the ongoing Wuhan coronavirus pandemic and abiding by the state's "stay-at-home" order, which includes a request to not engage in non-essential travel.
Patch.com reported on Monday the Illinois first lady went to their $12-million equestrian estate in Wellington, Flordia. This comes after Pritzker extended the state's "stay-at-home" order. The Palm Beach County horse farm was purchased by a Pritzker-linked LLC the same week he won the governor's race in 2018.
The 6.44-acre farm includes 30 stalls in the stables, an oversized riding arena, a manager's apartment, and an owner's lounge among its more than 27,000 square feet of buildings.
Pritzker was asked where his wife was during a press conference on Wednesday.
“Where’s the First Lady? Is she accompanied by a state security detail? Has she engaged in non-essential travel? What is your response to people who say the stay-at-home order and non-essential travel bans aren’t abided by your family?" a reporter asked.
"Well, first of all, I want to say is that in politics it used to be that we kept our families out of it," Pritzker said with a hint of anger. "My official duties have nothing to do with my family. So, I’m just not going to answer that question. It's inappropriate and I find it reprehensible, honestly that, that a reporter wrote a story about it."
ZitatNew Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham reportedly made a purchase from a retail jewelry store last month, at the same time she ordered many industries to temporarily close following her statewide public health order.
Grisham, a Democrat, stressed in April that New Mexicans needed to stay home and should only leave to purchase essential items such as food and medical supplies, KRQE-TV reported.
“We are in really tough financial times as a state. It mirrors the incredible, personal sacrifices that happen every single day because people have limited their ability to work, telecommuting and many people, in fact, have lost their jobs,” she said April 3.
Days after her remarks, however, she called an employee at the Lilly Barrack jewelry shop in Albuquerque -- where she has a longstanding relationship -- to make a purchase over the phone, the news station reported
No one was allowed in the store at the time because of the public health order.
This report originated on a NM TV station. I searched for it on YouTube but it wasn't up. On the NM news show, as in this Fox report, the governor refused to make any comment.
