ZitatDuring the broadcast of CNN’s town hall on LGBTQ issues on Thursday, 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) said religious institutions that do not agree with same-sex marriage would lose their tax-exempt status under his presidency.
Don Lemon asked, “This is from your LGBTQ plan. This is what you write. Freedom of religion is a fundamental right, but it should not be used to discriminate. Do you think religious institutions like colleges, churches, charities, should they lose their tax-exempt status if they oppose same-sex marriage?
O’Rourke said, “Yes. There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone or any institution, any organization in America that denies the full human rights, and the full civil rights of every single one of us. And so as president, we’re going to make that a priority, and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon human rights.”
ZitatDuring a CNN town hall on Thursday, 2020 presidential candidate Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) stated that the Constitution has “been founded on a separation of church and state.” And “the law rules when it comes to discrimination and all kinds of other things.” She further vowed that if she is elected, “I will appoint Supreme Court justices that understand that.”
Klobuchar said, “First of all, our Constitution, as you know, has been founded on a separation of church and state. And we can have different faiths in this country, but the law rules, and the law rules when it comes to discrimination and all kinds of other things. And I can just tell you that I will appoint Supreme Court justices that understand that.”
ZitatSen. Kamala Harris on Thursday pledged to add a White House chief advocate for LGBTQ affairs and name gay people to Cabinet posts if she is elected president.
Ms. Harris, California Democrat, said the moves aimed to reverse the “Trump Administration’s hate agenda” toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
“Every LGBTQ person in America should grow up knowing they can not only get married but also live, work, go to school, access affordable health care, and be supported, embraced, safe and celebrated,” she said. “When I’m president, change will start from the top. We will lift people through inclusion and put in place policies that create opportunity and ensure representation at the highest levels of government.”
The pledges for more representation in the White House was part of the LGBTQ agenda she announced ahead of a CNN town hall on LGBTQ issues.

Let's just be glad he's only a "hopeful". All of his ideas are misguided and just plain stupid.

I will agree with you there, TM, but what concerns me is that when you combine his statements with that of Klobuchar and Harris, you get a picture of which way the wind blows for the Democrats; and it's an ill wind for Christianity and freedom of religion.
The military wing of the Democrat Party used to wear white hoods. That has now been replaced with black hoodies.

Yes Cincinnatus, the wind does blow hostile for Christianity and religious freedom.
I've been contemplating these matters as I'm preparing to deliver our Church's message this Sunday. I go to an LCMS church in Bedford, MA and we're in a pastoral vacancy, relying on the Elders [of which I am one] when we can't find an ordained minister to take the pulpit. As I was preparing I came across a sermon by Rev. Dr. Dean Nadasdy in which he suggested we should stop saying we're in a post-Christian era. We're beyond that now. We're back to being in a pre-Christian era, much like the time in which the church was born. People then did not know Jesus or His teachings or His mission.
He suggested that our mindset as Christians should be that we're part of a movement rather than part of a dying institution.

The conundrum for politicians is what to do with the Muslims.
