ZitatWASHINGTON — President Donald Trump says he thinks the Federal Reserve’s policies are a greater threat to U.S. economic growth than a burgeoning trade war with China.
Trump told The Washington Post on Tuesday: “I think the Fed is a much bigger problem than China.”
Trump adds that he is “not even a little bit happy” with Fed Chairman Jay Powell, whom he selected last year.
The Fed has raised interest rates steadily under Powell’s leadership as the central bank has tried to balance promoting maximum employment with controlling inflation. Those decisions have drawn rebukes from Trump, who wants the Fed to focus on economic growth.
Trump says: “They’re making a mistake because I have a gut, and my gut tells me more sometimes than anybody else’s brain can ever tell me.”
The President is quite correct about the Fed though this article from Time has the usual snotty elitist tone one finds in the MSM when it comes to Trump, plus it provides no reason why the President opposes the Fed.
Myfavorite story about the Fed is how it was ostensibly founded to prevent the currency fluctuations resulting from the Panic of 1907. Then came 1929. Did a great job, huh?

And an even better job on the value of the dollar in real terms:

When Trump said this he gave the jackals a club with which to club him. Of course they lifted that one line out of any context and made it the article's headline. Trump also addressed climate change as not being man-made, Putin's capturing of three Ukrainian ships in the Black Sea, the Saudi Crown Prince's denial of any involvement in the Khashoggi killing, the Robert Mueller investigation and whether or not he was going to fire Mueller and more!
Clearly, President Trump does not shy away from ANY controversy. He speaks his mind in candid honesty ...unlike a politician. MAGA!!!
Here's what he said about the Fed in its context...
“I’m doing deals, and I’m not being accommodated by the Fed,” Trump said. “They’re making a mistake because I have a gut, and my gut tells me more sometimes than anybody else’s brain can ever tell me.” He added: “So far, I’m not even a little bit happy with my selection of Jay. [Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. “Jay” Powell,] Not even a little bit. And I’m not blaming anybody, but I’m just telling you I think that the Fed is way off-base with what they’re doing.”
