Ben Carson is receiving a lot of attention as a potential presidential candidate, but he’s now also getting noticed as an apparent “anti-gay” extremist.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, which considers itself a civil rights advocacy group, recently placed the famed neurosurgeon on its “Extremist Watch List” — a list that mainly includes neo-Nazis and other white supremacists.
Carson was included for allegedly being “anti-gay.” The SPLC considers his opposition to gay marriage to be hateful and worthy of inclusion in the list.
The remarks the group cites for determining Carson is an extremist include this line from his book, “America the Beautiful”: “[I]f we can redefine marriage as between two men or two women or any other way based on social pressures as opposed to between a man and a woman, we will continue to redefine it in any way that we wish, which is a slippery slope with a disastrous ending, as witnessed in the dramatic fall of the Roman Empire.”
Other evidence for his supposed bigotry towards the LGBT community includes giving a speech at an event hosted by a group that opposes gay marriage.
The SPLC also consider this line in support of a flat tax rate as radically outside the mainstream: “What we need to do is come up with something simple. And when I pick up by Bible, you know what I see? I see the first individual in the universe, God, and he’s given us a system. It’s called a tithe.”
They considered this as a statement “endorsing biblical economic practices for 21st century America.”

If anyone hears him talk about the gay marriage issue, he's not an easy person to pin the "hate" label on.
More likely than Ben looking like the hater, it will be those pointing their finger at Ben. They will look like the haters, which they are.

Stop trying to make the Ferguson protests something they weren’t. And, just as importantly, stop trying to make Michael Brown, the man shot to death during a fight with police Office Darren Wilson in August, something he wasn’t.
“If you look at the most credible evidence, the lessons are really basic ... don’t rob a convenience store. Don’t fight with a policeman when he stops you and try to take his gun. And when he yells at you to stop, just stop.”
The Southern Poverty Law Center has been fully discredited as a hate group itself after one of their fans shot up Tony Perkins group a year ago. Even the Left doesn't cite them anymore.

Dr. Ben Carson, the highly acclaimed brain surgeon and potential presidential candidate, is warning that America is approaching a point where “wrong is called right and right is called wrong.”
Carson was responding to the decision by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a well-funded civil-rights law firm known for its guilt-by-association tactics, to add him to its “extremist watch list.”
Carson said Monday the designation flips values upside down.

And sure enough, Carson no longer is on the List. Carson’s former Extremist profile now redirects to a page with this statement:
In October 2014, we posted an “Extremist File” of Dr. Ben Carson. This week, as we’ve come under intense criticism for doing so, we’ve reviewed our profile and have concluded that it did not meet our standards, so we have taken it down and apologize to Dr. Carson for having posted it.
