Bill Maher jokes that Brian Williams told 'such a blatant departure from the truth' he was offered a job at Fox News
The arrogance of Liberals never ceases to amaze me. If Maher were to study the issue a little bit more seriously he would find the alphabets do far more to distort the news, especially by suppression, than anything Fox does. But a self-proclaimed and false sense of superiority is at the center of the Liberal worldview.
"Bill Maher poked fun at the allegations against NBC News anchor Brian Williams last night and joked Williams told such big lies that he's been offered a position to work at Fox News.
Maher's show which aired last night on HBO at 10pm shed a little humor on Brian William's heroic tales.
'When we get older… we misplace our keys, we have trouble with people’s names, we can’t remember if the helicopter we were in crashed,' quipped the late night host saying he can sympathize with the mistakes of old age.
Williams made such a 'blatant departure from the truth, he got an offer from Fox News,' concluded Maher."
Constitutional conservative, small gov't types (like most of us here?) find ourselves in a quandary when things like this happen. For example:
1. The intelligentsia considers the GOP to be the "conservative" (i.e. right wing) party. So when the repubes are attacked by the mindless drones on the Left, we may feel obligated to defend them - all the while realizing that the GOP establishment is just slightly less statist than the dems. Really - when push comes to shove, the GOP hates "tea party" types as much or more than it does the dems.
2. So leftist tool Bill Maher takes a jab at Fox News. It enhances his creds on the cocktail party circuit, doncha know. And most of us (myself included) have a knee-jerk impulse to defend what we see as an alternative to the court-jester journalism of the establishment media.
I don't know about anyone else, but defending Fox News (who is attempting to shove Jeb Bush down our collective throats); or the republican party (with incompetent leaders like Turtle and Tan) leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Hillary's 2016 campaign slogan: Elect Clinton in '16 - believe it or not, there's STILL some of the country that hasn't been "fundamentally changed".

In the age of postfact that we are in presently, the effect of words is most important. Accuracy isn't needed. The purpose of the jab is appreciated as a slanderous and delightful jab because in the postfact world we live in, truth is known about Fox News a priori, that is, entirely independent of observation.

Stop trying to make the Ferguson protests something they weren’t. And, just as importantly, stop trying to make Michael Brown, the man shot to death during a fight with police Office Darren Wilson in August, something he wasn’t.
“If you look at the most credible evidence, the lessons are really basic ... don’t rob a convenience store. Don’t fight with a policeman when he stops you and try to take his gun. And when he yells at you to stop, just stop.”
