This is why the NFL is legally-defined as 'entertainment' and not a sport. Entertainment can be legally influenced toward a desired outcome. A sport cannot...

The Indianapolis Colts had raised concerns as far back as this past November about under-inflated balls supplied by the New England Patriots following its regular-season game against the recently-crowned AFC champions, ESPN reported.
During that Nov. 16 game, Colts safety Mike Adams twice intercepted quarterback Tom Brady and gave the balls to the Colts' equipment manager to save. Both times there were concerns about the balls feeling under-inflated, sources earlier this season had told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Those sources also said that the Colts raised concerns to the league, which was aware of the issue going into this Sunday's AFC Championship game. New England won the game, 45-7.

Probably true.
However, if that is the case, they've no room for complaint.

But they didn't let them continue with the under-inflated balls, they restored the pressure after determining that they were low.

"I'm sure that a deflated football is the reason LeGarrette Blount was able to run though the Colt's defense in the AFC championship like a hot knife through a FroYo. Watching the Pats have their way with the Colts was like watching my fat sister get after a pepperoni pizza after she gets dumped. Which happens a lot."

Everything you need to know about the Patriots and DeflateGate Jan 21 2015 by Ryan Van Bibber
Last year was a big year for scandal in the NFL. There was actual football being played for the last five months, but between the awkward press conferences, scathing reports, various legal battles and doubling down on the same personal conduct policies that got Roger Goodell in trouble in the first place, the games have taken a back seat to the league's stumbling, mumbling and fumbling. It's only fitting that we now have the Patriots and DeflateGate (I prefer BallGhazi, personally) perched atop the news cycle less than two weeks ahead of Super Bowl 49.

Stop trying to make the Ferguson protests something they weren’t. And, just as importantly, stop trying to make Michael Brown, the man shot to death during a fight with police Office Darren Wilson in August, something he wasn’t.
“If you look at the most credible evidence, the lessons are really basic ... don’t rob a convenience store. Don’t fight with a policeman when he stops you and try to take his gun. And when he yells at you to stop, just stop.”

Quote: Cyber Liberty wrote in post #22That would explain a lot about Basketball, too.
What a nice coinkidink that the Patriots won the Super Bowl after 9-11 and the Red Sox won the World Series after the Marathon Bombing...
The Yankees went to the World Series in October 2001, but got shot down by the Diamondbacks (Yay D'Backs!). If Baseball has become like Basketball (eg "Professional Wrestling"), it happened after 2001. Surely the PTB would have given the World Series to NY right after 9/11.

I guess having both the Patriots and the Yankees win in 2001 would have been too obvious...

Agreed. But that was the Diamondbacks' year and they deserved the win. Would have done it in five games, but we had a closer who couldn't find his feet some days.
