The Obama foreign policy in all its glory. John Kerry, our SoS who served in Vietnam, traveled to France today in order to demonstrate American support for France and to support "the Obama administration’s effort to correct its failure to send a top official to a mass rally and solidarity march in Paris on Sunday..." But Kerry, who served in Vietnam, did more than merely bring a wreath and a heavy heart. He also brought folk singer James Taylor to sing one of his greatest works as a demonstration of how we really feel.
"After strumming a few bars of “La Marseillaise,” the national anthem of France, Mr. Taylor lowered his head and played “You’ve Got a Friend,” singing the final words in French."
How touching.
If you would like to read an excellent analysis of this epic event, who better than Mark Steyn?
I don't know if this is true or not, but I'll go ahead and pass it along and let others be the judge:
Many years ago now, Rod Serling - the great writer and creator of "The Twilight Zone" was presented with a story idea. In this episode, it would be put forth that Marxists and Communists had taken over the Executive branch of the US Government. Now they hadn't taken over by force or violence - they had instead done it through the election process.
The Marxist head of this cabal would piece by piece systematically destroy the very country he was "elected" to defend. He would use his State of the Union speech to lecture Supreme Court Justices (and those same Justices would go on to reward this dictator by shredding what was left of the Constitution). The news media - once a valued and storied watchdog, speaking Truth to power - would instead begin to speak with one voice, much like Pravda in the old USSR. He would release terrorists who had been captured on the battlefield to go out and fight another day. He would open the borders wide to let whatever filth and vermin enter the country at will.
The broken down opposition party - such as it was - would be led by a drunken crybaby who, when push came to shove, always ceded to the dictator's bidding.
An out an out racist agitator - a black Klansman, if you will - would run around the country stirring racial animosity and be honored, not scorned. He would even become a valued adviser to the Marxist dictator.
There were many more aspects to this story, but Mr. Serling had heard enough. He rejected the storyline outright.
"This is way too weird - even for the Twilight Zone. After all, there has to be SOME aspect of believability in each of our stories"
Kerry, "who served in Vietnam". The author mentions that twice in the first paragraph as if that was noteworthy. Why did they remind everyone of his undistinguished service in 'Nam that resulted in a Purple Heart for a ricochet chip cut from shooting his own bullet into a rock? I mean if they're going to bring that disgrace up maybe they should've mentioned him throwing someone else's medals over the White House fence.
" From Kerry’s vantage point, there is nothing contradictory about his statement to “Viewpoints” that he had given back “six, seven, eight, nine medals.” To have said that he had given back ribbons but that his medals were at home would have simply confused the TV audience."
Now he is being morphed into a VietNam war hero.....

Stop trying to make the Ferguson protests something they weren’t. And, just as importantly, stop trying to make Michael Brown, the man shot to death during a fight with police Office Darren Wilson in August, something he wasn’t.
“If you look at the most credible evidence, the lessons are really basic ... don’t rob a convenience store. Don’t fight with a policeman when he stops you and try to take his gun. And when he yells at you to stop, just stop.”

Eh? TM, did you mean the 2x mention of this in I made in the opening paragraph? You make it sound as if that was part of the original story, but it wasn't. It was just me playing on a riff started long ago by Rush and one that has always amused me given Kerry's behavior after he was in 'Nam, and his attempt to exploit his service when he ran for President.
Allahu Akbar" is Arabic for "Nothing to see here"~~Mark Steyn explaining the reaction of Obama, Hollande, et. al., to Muslim terror attacks.

@Cincinnatus Well, yes, I guess I did make that mistake! Thanks for setting me straight.
