"The United States is on pace to legally admit 10 million immigrants over the next decade, an amount equal to the current populations of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles and St. Louis combined, according to Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.).
And that’s just legal immigration, which doesn’t count the addition of illegal immigrants, including those who might be drawn by the promise of a further relaxation of U.S. immigration laws."
As Diana West notes, "Once upon a time in 1970, fewer than 1 in 21 residents in the USA was foreign-born.
Now we approach a ratio more like 1 in 7, or even 1 in 6, or even higher.
What kind of "nation" is that? No nation. No wonder the social engineers implementing this demographic war on our nation have effectively erased our borders."

So many -R's pimp for legal immigration based upon the notion it it good for the country.
Coolidge had a much more realistic view:
Zitat ... “During this economic period {the 1950's through the 1970's}, compensation for American workers nearly doubled,” the analysis reads. “These lower midcentury immigration levels were the product of a federal policy change—after the last period of large-scale immigration that had begun in roughly 1880, President Coolidge argued that a slowing of immigration would benefit both U.S.-born and immigrant-workers.” ...
In 1979 the real income of the average worker peaked. It is also when Nixon -Kissinger introduced the petro-dollar to bouy up the value of the dollar after Nixon closed the international gold window, and when the BLS began serious 'research' into how to 'enhance' basic national economic statistics such as the CPI, GDP, and unemploymtn.
