Public Health Emergency Declared In Connecticut Over Ebola: Civil Rights Suspended Indefinitely Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/10/2014 22:53 -0400
We warned a week ago of the various possibilities surrounding an Ebola outbreak in America, and today we get some degree of confirmation of a medical-based martial-law coming to the US. Governor Dan Malloy has declared a Public Health Emergency in Connecticut, authorizing the "isolation of any individual reasonably believed to have been exposed to the Ebola virus." Simply put, as we noted previously, the State of Public Health Emergency allows bureaucrats to detain and force-vaccinate people without due process - despite not one single case being found in CT. If there is a major Ebola pandemic in America, all of the liberties and the freedoms that you currently enjoy would be gone.
Isn't this simply a responsible response to a deadly virus? I approve of quarantine/isolation.
Isolation for everyone except Dr. Nancy Snyderman, that is. I mean Dr. Nancy needs to be able to venture out for her favorite soup whenever the urge comes upon her. Everyone else needs to stay put!

The answer is yes and no.
I see this more as a potential crisis -the outbreak in Africa that - was not wasted. None of the common sense measures that would have kept the virus out of the US were taken.
When you have a virus as lethal as ebola, about which there is a great deal that is not known with any certainty, common sense says don't let in any one who traveled from the ebola hot zone. And you do not bring in anyone to treat them.
Duncan lied to get into the U.S. Gee who could have predicted that if you were exposed to a lethal virus you'd lie to get into a country where the treatment cured someone.
The medical personnel in Spain said they were given a 15 minute LECTURE on how to use the protective gear. I wonder how long the lecture was for the nurse who contracted ebola in Texas. I'd wager she never was given actual real life practice.
From what I've read (I'll see if I can hunt up the link) the nurse wore one pair of gloves, did not protect her hair, and disrobed without receiving a bleach shower first. The bleach shower is standard procedure in Africa.
Ebola is a Bio Hazard level 4 virus. That is the high level. In the field in Africa bhl 3 is used by Doctors without Borders along with the bleach shower. bhl2 is being used in US hospitals.
This level is required for work with dangerous and exotic agents that pose a high individual risk of aerosol-transmitted laboratory infections, agents which cause severe to fatal disease in humans for which vaccines or other treatments are not available, such as Bolivian and Argentine hemorrhagic fevers, Marburg virus, Ebola virus, Lassa virus, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, and various other hemorrhagic diseases. This level is also used for work with agents such as smallpox that are considered dangerous enough to require the additional safety measures, regardless of vaccination availability. When dealing with biological hazards at this level the use of a positive pressure personnel suit, with a segregated air supply is mandatory. The entrance and exit of a level four biolab will contain multiple showers, a vacuum room, an ultraviolet light room, and other safety precautions designed to destroy all traces of the biohazard. Multiple airlocks are employed and are electronically secured to prevent both doors from opening at the same time. All air and water service going to and coming from a biosafety level 4 (or P4) lab will undergo similar decontamination procedures to eliminate the possibility of an accidental release.
Agents with a close or identical antigenic relationship to biosafety level 4 agents are handled at this level until sufficient data are obtained either to confirm continued work at this level, or to work with them at a lower level.
Members of the laboratory staff have specific and thorough training in handling extremely hazardous infectious agents and they understand the primary and secondary containment functions of the standard and special practices, the containment equipment, and the laboratory design characteristics. They are supervised by qualified scientists who are trained and experienced in working with these agents. Access to the laboratory is strictly controlled by the laboratory director.
The facility is either in a separate building or in a controlled area within a building, which is completely isolated from all other areas of the building. A specific facility operations manual is prepared or adopted. Building protocols for preventing contamination often use negatively pressurized facilities, which, even if compromised, would severely inhibit an outbreak of aerosol pathogens.
Within work areas of the facility, all activities are confined to Class III biological safety cabinets, or Class II biological safety cabinets used with one-piece positive pressure personnel suits ventilated by a life support system."
"I don't think that poor nurse in Dallas was at all prepared. She obviously didn't have what she needed to keep from being infected."
Thanks for the link.
To put it bluntly that poor nurse was sacrificed at the altar of political correctness and internationalism. All the right people were in place to make all the wrong decisions (i.e. if your goal was the safety of US citizens)
NBC’s Snyderman Apologizes for Ebola Quarantine Violation
NBC medical correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman issued a statement tonight apologizing for reported violations of the quarantine she and her NBC News team were placed in after freelancer photographer Ashoka Mukpo, who was working with the NBC team in Liberia, was diagnosed with Ebola.
After reports of the quarantine violation, NBC News ordered Snyderman and her team to be placed in isolation. Reports from Planet Princeton and TMZ alleged that Snyderman was spotted in public, in violation of the quarantine, to pick up soup from a New Jersey restaurant.
