I'll be the first to admit I find his politics abhorrent, but he is an accomplished musician; and from what I know about his family life, a rather decent fellow. 36 years of marriage is a long time.
"Neil Young has filed for divorce from Pegi Young, his wife of 36 years and frequent musical collaborator. A petition for dissolution of marriage was filed by Young in their hometown of San Mateo, California, on July 29th. A hearing is scheduled for December 12th. A rep for Neil Young had no comment.
Pegi is the inspiration for some of Young's most enduring love songs, including "Such a Woman," "Unknown Legend" and "Once an Angel." She began serving as his background singer in the 1990s, sharing the stage with him at the 1994 Academy Awards and numerous tours over the past 20 years. They last performed together at the Bridge School Benefit in October of 2013...
Inspired by the lack of educational opportunities for their son Ben, who suffers from cerebral palsy, they co-founded the Bridge School in 1986, which educates children with severe physical impairments. They raise funds for it every year with an all-star concert in Mountain View, California."
202 years ago this week, First Lady Dolly Madison saved the famous portrait of George Washington from the White House during the War of 1812. If it happened today, Obama would probably save his golf clubs!~~FB comment
Bleh. Niel is about as relevant today as Hoagy Carmichael is. He hasn't made a song anyone wants to hear since before Carter was President and he is an insufferable Lib dope.
Oh, the irony. I posted this story about Young's impending divorce and Frank Cannon responded, in his usual friendly and amicable fashion, Bleh. Niel is about as relevant today as Hoagy Carmichael is. He hasn't made a song anyone wants to hear since before Carter was President and he is an insufferable Lib dope.
Ok, but then I ask myself why did Frank begin his new thread, "Let's Rock", with a work by, who else, Neil young?

I was wondering when someone would pick this low hanging fruit. That song is older than dirt. It shows more of how out of touch I am than with the relevance of Niel.
Since we are on the subject, I like Hoagy Carmichael. Just the other night I saw him on AMC in Young Man with a Horn, and as usual enjoyed his laid back performance.
As to this, "Niel is about as relevant today as Hoagy Carmichael is." I can only note he wrote the lyrics, or music, or both for "Georgia on My Mind", " "(Up a) Lazy River", "In the Still of the Night", "The Nearness of You", the unforgettable "Skylark", and a host of other songs recorded innumerable times by the best of the best, and still being performed wherever good jazz/pop music is appreciated (like my house).

ZitatOr if you prefer try the versions by Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, K D Lang, Melissa Manchester, Paul Desmond (instrumental), Anita O'Day, and...
Jesus. You would have a pack of 20 nothing dopes burn the face off their IPhones Googling that group of names. No one knows those folks anymore. Even Aretha I will bet.
