Some Democratic senators now regret pushing accused groper Sen. Al Franken to resign, and are urging him to stay on, according to a new report.

“I think we acted prematurely, before we had all the facts,” one anonymous senator told Politico. “In retrospect, I think we acted too fast.”

Franken reluctantly bowed to his colleagues’ demands to step down earlier this month after he was accused of sexual assault by eight women, saying he’d leave the Senate “in the coming weeks.” Minnesota Lt. Gov. Tina Smith has been tapped as his replacement.

But at least four senators — including three who initially joined the chorus demanding the handsy lawmaker step down — now want the Minnesota pol to reconsider his planned January exit, the site reports...

I guess we've all been around the block long enough to know where this is going.

ALL OF A SUDDEN, Franken's original statement on the floor will end up the cornfield...POOF. And the useful idiots of Fake Media will dutifully carry his water, never bringing it up again.

Just like that, Franken's a good guy to the Left again.

Washington (CNN) - Minnesota Democratic Sen. Al Franken, who announced plans earlier this month to resign his seat, will leave the Senate on January 2, his office said.

Lt. Gov. Tina Smith will join the Senate the following day.

"When I leave the Senate in a few weeks," Franken said during a speech on the Senate floor, "I will continue trying to be an educated citizen and an advocate and an activist."

Until Wednesday afternoon, Franken had not given a specific date for when he will resign.

Funny, announced right after Trump's big win today. Maybe the Rats are seeing the tide turning and decided to cut their losses with this loser.

OTOH, I will believe it when it happens.
