ZitatDKNY, which just launched a new website targeted at the Middle East, has decided it wants to expand its base of consumers with a new line just for Muslims. The line's theme is Ramadan.
With one billion Muslims as customers, designers Tamara Al Gabbani from Dubai and Kuwaiti Styles magazine fashion editor Yalda Golsharifi created an array of conservative outfits featuring high necklines and low hemlines.
One Pakistani commentator called the creations “effortlessly chic, fresh, and elegant, and inspirational for Muslim women looking for ways to be glam and modest at the same time.”
Photos by Saeed Al Khalifa are exhibited in DKNY’s lookbook.
AP reported in June that growing numbers of luxury brands are tailoring their products for Muslims because of the rush by Muslims to buy products before Ramadan and during the holiday of Eid that follows the month of Ramadan. Tourists from the Middle East spent $1.5 billion buying products in London last year according to AP.
