Much in the way that a fine-dining restaurant might open a morning doughnut counter to extend its kitchen’s revenue-generating hours or an apartment owner may list put her place on Airbnb while she’s on vacation, one Tulsa, Okla., marketing company has found a way to wring some extra cash out of the local economy during its off-hours. Rather, its office cat has.
By attracting the attention of passing pedestrians, the cat, rather exuberantly named Sir Whines-a -Lot (and, for good measure, nicknamed Cashnip Kitty), then apparently touches them up for a dollar here and there by encouraging them, initially through unknown means, to slide currency through the front door for the cat’s presumed amusement. What happens next has become predictable, the marketing firm’s founder reportedly told the website the Dodo:
‘It’s become a game. It costs you a dollar to play, because the cat’s going to get your money.’ Stuart McDaniel, GuRuStu

So far more than $100, according to the Dodo report, has made its way to a local homeless charity as a result of the feline scheme.
