Since taking office, President Trump’s behavior has become increasingly unhinged. Since ascending to the Oval Office, he has thrown a tantrum over the size of the Women’s March following his inauguration because it dwarfed his pitiful turnout and insisted to multiple audiences that his inauguration was massive despite the obvious photographic evidence to the contrary. Aides report he grows furiously angry over angry Twitter messages and grows bored with his work, instead preferring to watch television.
The erratic temper of an old man? Or a sign of something else? New York Times columnist Paul Krugman is fed up with Trump’s rage-and-pony show and told us all how he really feels in one sledgehammer of a tweet:
Paul Krugman ✔ @paulkrugman An American first: a president who was obviously mentally ill the moment he took office. Thanks, Comey https://nyti.ms/2jSCnuX 6:32 AM - 24 Jan 2017
He’s not the only one to suspect that Trump may be plagued by mental issues. Newsweek reported that even the Kremlin believed Trump was “showing himself psychologically unfit to be president” when he insulted the family of slain war hero Humayun Khan. Richard Green of the Huffington Post interviewed a host of mental health professionals, who all agreed the Trump shows classic signs of “Narcissistic Personality Disorder,” which you don’t have to be a psychologist to recognize in our egomaniacal commander in chief. Unfortunately, we must live with the consequences of his mental instability with every day, until we can finally vote him out – or he manages to get himself impeached, which is far more likely than you’d think.

Robert Reich: Donald Trump follows a simple strategy to take over the truth
Independent press must find the truth, report it and hold Trump accountable for his lies
By ROBERT REICH, JAN 23, 2017
Donald Trump is such a consummate liar that in coming days and years our democracy will depend more than ever on the independent press — finding the truth, reporting it and holding Trump accountable for his lies.
But Trump’s strategy is to denigrate and disparage the press in the public’s mind — seeking to convince the public that the press is engaged in a conspiracy against him. And he wants to use his tweets, rallies and videos to make himself the only credible source of public information about what is happening and what he’s doing.
It is the two-step strategy of despots. And it’s already started. It was officially launched the first full day of the Trump administration.
Step 1: Disparage the press and lie about them. snip Step 2: Threaten to circumvent the press and take the “truth” directly to the people. snip
Spicer issued a dire warning: “The American people deserve better,” he said. “As long as [Trump] serves as the messenger for this incredible movement, he will take his message directly to the American people.”
We’re not talking Roosevelt-like “fireside chats” here. Trump’s tweets have already been invective firestorms directed at critics, some of whom have been threatened by Trump followers stirred up by the tweets. And CEOs pray their companies aren’t targets, because stock prices of the companies he’s already vilified have dropped immediately after his diatribes.
Trump and his advisers — Steven Bannon, formerly of “Breitbart News,” as well as Spicer and others — understand that if a significant portion of the public trusts Trump’s own words more than they do the media’s, Trump can get away with saying — and doing — whatever he wants. When that happens, our democracy ends.

Snubbed by Spicer, AP Throws Temper Tantrum
Associated Press lashes out at younger outlet after being passed over at White House briefings
by Jim Stinson | 25 Jan 2017
The old way of doing business in the Brady Briefing Room of the White House is now over — and the Associated Press is not happy about it.
The legendary wire service, founded in 1846, is usually the press secretary’s first pick at White House briefings.
But under President Donald Trump’s new administration, White House press secretary Sean Spicer has so far not called on AP for the first question.
On Monday, Spicer called first on a reporter from the New York Post, a conservative tabloid. That brought some murmuring from the mainstream media. Trump and Spicer had disrupted the normal media “pecking order” at White House briefings.
On Tuesday, the pecking order was disrupted again when Spicer called on a LifeZette reporter first. Liberal journalists on Twitter erupted with characteristic indignation.
But the normally staid AP, sensing Trump and Spicer might be establishing a new way, joined the whine-fest and lashed out Tuesday night with an error-filled report on this relatively minor Beltway process story.
Without contacting LifeZette editors or the reporter himself, the AP filed a story on Tuesday night that made clear the press agency doesn't like the new kid on the block.
"White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer took the first question at his briefing Tuesday from a reporter who works for LifeZette, a website founded by Donald Trump supporter Laura Ingraham that published some untrue stories during the 2016 presidential campaign," the AP wrote.
In their zeal to slur LifeZette, the AP got the name of the LifeZette reporter wrong in its initial report.
"The reporter, Jim Stenson [sic], asked Spicer when President Trump would follow through on campaign promises about immigration," the AP wrote in a piece without a byline. "Spicer taking the first question from Stenson [sic] attracted notice because, before Trump, major news outlets were traditionally called upon to open White House press conferences and briefings."
What the AP failed to mention is that it was AP itself that traditionally receives the first question.
The AP then proceeded to recycle tired, debunked charges that had in the past only been thrown at LifeZette by activist bloggers. AP reported LifeZette "released a video, 'Clinton Body Count,' that promoted a conspiracy theory that Hillary and Bill Clinton had ties to the deaths of several colleagues and Democrats."
The video was made in jest, and merely noted that the theories existed. The Associated Press has not been known to question the editorial standards of left-leaning digital outlets like BuzzFeed, which commonly makes viral videos that are not presented as news.

Someone might also inform Reich that it isn't "Trump’s strategy is to denigrate and disparage the press in the public’s mind". The press has already accomplished that because of its obvious bias and dishonesty.
