Sally [The Salvation Army] put me up when I was assigned to Recruiting Duty in Philly until I got a room at the Naval base BOQ. Then they sent me a fruitcake when I was in 'Nam. So I ALWAYS give to Sally.
My Pop had a major problem in WW II w/ the Red Cross when his brother got wounded. We've never given them a dime.
Another worthy charity is Fischer [?] House. they're like Ronald McDonald House for the military. they put up families near hospitals where their military loved ones are being treated

As did my father. I remember him telling me the RC charged our sailors and Marines for the donuts and coffee they received for free. He never said much about his WWII experiences but he did that one.
