ZitatAs the world waits with bated breath for the results of Tuesday's contentious presidential election, its eyes turned briefly to three sleepy hamlets in rural New Hampshire, as their residents — fewer than 100 total — became the first in the nation to cast their ballots.
In Dixville Notch, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump 4-2. Libertarian Gary Johnson received one vote, and the 2012 Republican candidate, Mitt Romney received a surprise write-in ballot. In the slightly larger burg of Hart's Location, Clinton won with 17 votes to Trump's 14. Johnson got three votes, while write-ins Bernie Sanders and John Kasich each got one. And in Millsfield, Trump won decisively, 16-4, with one write-in for Bernie Sanders.
So, in the three New Hampshire towns with midnight voting, Trump came out ahead 32-25.
According to New Hampshire law, communities with under 100 voters can open their polls at midnight and close them as soon as all registered voters have cast their ballots.
Dixville Notch is the best known of these early voting communities but it appears to have a strong Leftist element, so it's not very representative over all. In primary voting it went 4 Sanders, 3 Kasich, 2 Trump.
PERSONAL REQUEST: Would it be possible to start a thread devoted exclusively to election reports such as this one? It isn't just Trump vs Hilliary. The Senate, House, and several governorships are also at play and it would be nice for anyone interested to be able to report local results which are of import. I suppose we could just start a thread under General Political News and Opinion, but I was hoping for a classification all its own like General, etc. Good idea? Bad idea? Can it be done? Will others participate?
I am cautiously optimistic today. For one thing, it is pretty clear that Trump has telegraphed he's filing lawsuits against the fraud states. Three that have already had fraud call-outs are Florida (Broward, and the AG is already involved in that one), PA (Philly, and it sounds like major, well-publicized episides), and Nevada (Clark County, and first lawsuit already filed to establish the paper trail).
This is VERY encouraging. Trump is a fighter...NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!
Now if Trump holds his own states and wins the "showdowns" listed on the Drudge page right now, PLUS gets one of the Rust Belt states...well, he would have pulled off a miracle.
