Praise God. This attempt at persecution failed, but they will be back.
ZitatPORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The leaders of an armed group that took over a national wildlife refuge in rural Oregon have been found not guilty of conspiracy and possession of firearms at a federal facility.
A jury on Thursday exonerated brothers Ammon and Ryan Bundy and five others of conspiring to impede federal workers from their jobs at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
Some of the defendants also were charged with possession of firearms at a federal facility and were acquitted on that count as well.
The standoff began Jan. 2 and lasted nearly six weeks, bringing new attention to a long-running dispute over control of federal lands in the U.S. West.

Zitat Despite the acquittal, the Bundys were expected to stand trial in Nevada early next year on charges stemming from another high-profile standoff with federal agents. Authorities rounding up cattle at their father Cliven Bundy's ranch in 2014 because of unpaid grazing fees released the animals as they faced armed protesters.
The brothers are part of a Nevada ranching family embroiled in a lengthy fight over the use of public range, and their occupation drew an international spotlight to a uniquely American West dispute: federal restrictions on ranching, mining and logging to protect the environment. The U.S. government, which controls much of the land in the West, says it tries to balance industry, recreation and wildlife concerns to benefit all.

The hell it does. Extremist environmentalistsdominate this administration's Dept of the Interior as well as other federal bureaucracies (e.g., the EPA). Combine that with the greedy maneuvering of Harry Reid and you have the independent rancher shut out.

Oregon militants acquitted of conspiracy in wildlife refuge seizure By Scott Bransford | PORTLAND, Ore.
A federal court jury delivered a surprise verdict on Thursday acquitting anti-government militant leader Ammon Bundy and six followers of conspiracy charges stemming from their role in the armed takeover of a wildlife center in Oregon earlier this year.
The outcome marked a stinging defeat for federal prosecutors and law enforcement in a trial the defendants sought to turn into a pulpit for airing their opposition to U.S. government control over millions of acres of public lands in the West.
Bundy and others, including his brother and co-defendant Ryan Bundy, cast the 41-day occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge as a patriotic act of civil disobedience. Prosecutors called it a lawless scheme to seize federal property by force.
Jubilant supporters of the Bundys thronged the courthouse after the verdict, hailing the trial's outcome as vindication of a political ideology that is profoundly distrustful of federal authority and challenges its legitimacy.
"We're so grateful to the jurors who weren't swayed by the nonsense that was going on," defendant Shawna Cox told reporters. "God said we weren't guilty. We weren't guilty of anything."
As the seven-week-long trial in the U.S. District Court in Portland climaxed, U.S. marshals wrestled to the floor Ammon Bundy's lawyer, Marcus Mumford, as he argued heatedly with the judge over the terms of his client's continued detention.

Armed militants who took over a federal building and wildlife refuge in Oregon in a deadly, 41-day standoff with authorities were acquitted of all charges Thursday.
The seven anti-government militia members, led by brothers Ammon and Ryan Bundy, were found not guilty of conspiracy and weapons charges in the standoff at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
An eighth occupier, LaVoy Finicum, was fatally shot by police during the standoff.
After the verdict, court officers had to tackle, tase and hold Ammon defense lawyer Marcus Mumford when he repeatedly yelled that his client must be released immediately. Mumford himself was freed hours later.
The judge said Ammon could not be released because he still faces charges in Nevada stemming from an armed standoff with the feds at dad Cliven Bundy’s ranch two years ago.
An attorney for another defendant was shocked.
“It’s stunning. It’s a stunning victory for the defense,” said Robert Salisbury, attorney for defendant Jeff Banta. “I’m speechless.”
The forces of repression move on to the next phase.
ZitatPORTLAND, Ore. Ammon Bundy's lawyer will be back in Oregon next year, this time as the accused.
In a bizarre ending to the trial, Marcus Mumford was wrestled to the ground by U.S. marshals and arrested after repeatedly yelling at a judge to let his client go free. U.S. District Judge Anna Brown said Bundy couldn't leave because he's going to a Nevada jail to face charges there.
The U.S. Marshals Service says Mumford was cited for failure to comply with a federal lawful order and disturbance. He was released with a Jan. 6 date to return to court.
Supervising deputy Eric Wahlstrom told The Oregonian/OregonLive that Mumford was shocked with a stun gun in a dry-stun mode. It was placed against him, but no probes were fired into his body.
Note, too, something I should have mentioned before. This jury acquittal happened in the hard core Leftist city of Portland. That's how weak the federal case was. Now it's time to do a serious investigation into the assassination of LaVoy Finicum, but how can such an investigation be fair? The FBI is going to investigate itself?
One final word on the events at Malheur:
ZitatFinally the Justice Department stipulated (without naming any names) that at least nine occupiers were undercover informants; a number greater than the number of defendants on trial.
It is alleged that it was these undercover agents, whose names the Feds won't reveal, were responsible for the brandishing of weapons and some of the physical damage to the facility. Blacks can riot and destroy cities. Nothing. A group of peaceful demonstrators occupy a wildlife refuge in rural OR no one has ever heard of and the Feds deploy a small army of informants.
