This story from TM's back yard. Well, not exactly my back yard, but compared to TX it is. She decided to rob the convenience store where she used to work. She painted on fake mustache and eyebrows hoping they wouldn't recognize her. The disguise worked but when she spoke, guess what? the clerk recognized her voice! DOAH!!! Maybe I'll be able to get a pic of her in her robbery disguise. That should be precious. And I saw we just hosted a high speed chase with multiple spinouts and a perp on the loose, all on live TV from the helicoptor. Wow!!! Of course TM will keep you abreast of all these great breaking Massachusetts stories as I'm able, in between working.
Some days we have too much fun up here in MA. TM
Here's her pic: Guilty or Not Guilty?

HAVERHILL — Police said a woman who disguised herself with a painted-on mustache and eyebrows tried to rob the Red Hen Market on River Street, but was recognized by a store employee because the woman worked there in the past.
Police charged Dawn Phillips-Ellison, 44, of 72 River St., with armed assault to rob. They said she was carrying a knife during the attempted robbery.
She was arraigned Monday in Haverhill District Court, where she was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Thursday.
At the hearing, a judge will determine whether to set a bail amount or order Phillips-Ellison to remain behind bars at MCI Framingham as her case continues in court.
Police said they received a 911 call at 12:55 a.m. Monday indicating someone tried to rob the market at 56 River St.
When police arrived, a clerk told an officer that he thought the suspect was a woman named Dawn who once worked at the store.
The clerk said the woman wore a hoodie she pulled over her head to disguise herself, but that he recognized her by her voice and the way she walked and how she looked, according to police.
"She tried make herself look like a man by painting a mustache on her face with mascara," said police Detective Capt. Robert Pistone. "She walked in, brandished a knife and stated, "Give me all the ... money."
Pistone said the clerk told police he watched as the woman pretended to yell to someone outside, "Raymond, he's not taking me seriously."
The clerk said he did not see anyone outside and he did not give the woman any money. The clerk told police the woman fled into a nearby building at 72 River St., which police said is a multi-unit apartment building.
Police said they found Phillips-Ellison in Unit 10 of the building.
During questioning, she told them she used to work at the Red Hen Market, but knew nothing about a robbery, according to a police report. She said she was at the store about 8 p.m. and that when police arrived, she was home sleeping on her couch, according to the report.
Police said Phillips-Ellison appeared to have smudges of eyeliner above her eyebrows and upper lip. She told police she draws her eyebrows with liner because it is "in style" and that she has a mustache.
When police asked if they could search the apartment for a knife because a knife was used in the robbery, Phillips-Ellison told them they would likely find knives left by her recently deceased boyfriend and that she wanted to speak to a lawyer before any search was conducted.
Pistone said the clerk at the Red Hen Market later identified Phillips-Ellison as the robber. Police then arrested her.

Quote: Cincinnatus wrote in post #2Good grief, how could such a well planned caper have gone south like this? It's enough to end your faith in crime.
Btw, Ms Phillips-Ellison looks a lot older than 44. Not that it matters, of course.
Ha ha!
I guess your vote is "Guilty!" then?
