The "Thank You" Letter: 100 entertainers, some well known, send letter to Obama thanking him for his EOs on guns
"No one is challenging the right of law abiding citizens to responsibly own a firearm. But like you, we believe that guns should be kept away from criminals, terrorists, domestic abusers, the dangerously mentally ill, and children. Your Executive Action will do exactly that – extending Brady background checks to gun shows and online sales."
Thank you. Thank you for having the courage and leadership to take Executive Action on preventing more unnecessary gun violence in this country. We are deeply thankful for the actions you took this week. Countless lives will be saved as a result.
Like you, and like most Americans, we have had ENOUGH. We have had enough of seeing unthinkable tragedies happen and nothing being done. Two masked people walk into a center for the disabled and murder 14 co-workers celebrating the holidays. A group of churchgoers are slaughtered during a prayer service even as they welcome the young man full of hate to their group. And the horrific day when 20 first graders and six educators were massacred in their classroom. In each case, the guns used were far too easily available to people intent on doing harm.
This level of depravity should rattle anyone with a conscience. We have seen how it has visibly rattled you.
Roughly 33,000 people die from gun violence every year in this country. Every day, we lose 89 more. Since Sandy Hook, 160 schools have experienced shootings. The homicide rate in the United States is 20 times higher than 22 countries like us in wealth and population – combined.
I began a response. Perhaps I'll post it and see if any celebrities sign it.
Dear Boy Emperor:
Thank you. Thank you for perhaps FINALLY over-reaching in your blatant attempt to usurp The Constitution by eviscerating the Second Amendment. We are outraged by the actions you took this week, but maybe - just maybe - it will finally dawn on even the most brain-dead voter how fast our freedoms are being taken away. Countless rights may be restored as a result.
Like most Americans, we have had ENOUGH. We have had enough of seeing your tyrannical mug on TV every time one of these tragedies happen, and using it as an excuse to take away more rights from law abiding citizens.. Two masked people walk into a center for the disabled and murder 14 co-workers celebrating the holidays, and you refuse to call it Islamic terrorism. A group of churchgoers are slaughtered during a prayer service even as they welcome the insane young man full of hate to their group. No "gun law" you propose would have stopped him, because it's not about guns; it's about mental illness. And the same applies to the horrific day when 20 first graders and six educators were massacred in their classroom. In each case, the guns used were simply tools in the hands of evildoers, bent on doing harm to innocents. The answer is to address the problem of the evildoers - not their tools.
Or are you instead going to likewise propose limitations on pressure cookers - since one was used in the Boston Marathon bombing?
Your level of megalomania should rattle anyone who reveres The Constitution. We have seen your pen and your phone.
We could cite a bunch of meaningless statistics, but why bother. They won't stop you or those who may follow you.

And here's a response from a real live woman who isn't protected by body guards or the secret service:
Meet the pro-gun rape survivor who challenged Obama on CNN By Justin Wm. Moyer January 8
On May 21, 2006, Kimberly Corban was a 20-year-old student completing her sophomore year at the University of Northern Colorado. She had just finished finals — summer was on its way. She had her whole life ahead of her.
Then, the unthinkable happened. Around five in the morning, a man broke into her apartment in Greeley, Colo., and, for almost two hours, sexually assaulted her.
“I thought, ‘I’m going to die,'” Corban, now 30, told The Washington Post in a phone interview. “There’s no going back from that.”
Corban’s story did not exactly have a happy ending — or, at least, the ending is ever-evolving. Though her assailant is now serving 24 years to life in prison, she struggled with depression, PTSD and stress-related seizures. And, speaking about her experience, she came to realize how important it was for women to have access to guns to protect themselves
Then, Thursday night on national television, she got to confront the man she thought wanted to take her guns away: President Obama.
“As a survivor of rape, and now a mother to two small children — you know, it seems like being able to purchase a firearm of my choosing, and being able to carry that wherever my — me and my family are — it seems like my basic responsibility as a parent at this point,” she told Obama during “Guns in America,” CNN’s town hall, after the president announced executive orders on gun control Tuesday.
“I have been unspeakably victimized once already, and I refuse to let that happen again to myself or my kids. So why can’t your administration see that these restrictions that you’re putting to make it harder for me to own a gun, or harder for me to take that where I need to be is actually just making my kids and I less safe?”
“I would say it was more of a non-response,” she told The Post. “He kind of dodged the question.”
Saying Obama was working without a script or a teleprompter, Corban criticized the president’s insistence on talking about how guns endanger children every time he “got jammed” at the town hall. Doesn’t he understand that she has guns because she wants to keep her children safe in her family’s home?

Great vent !
In addition to pressure cookers we need limitations on knives, bats, fists, feet, bricks, matches, oars, frying pans, heavy purses, scissors, heavy books, saws. table lamps, machetes, bottles of water, etc since all can be used to main and kill LOL
