I find this fascinating because where I live we actually have Walgreens and Rite Aids very close to one another, in some cases on opposite corners of the same intersection. If the Walgreen bid is successful I wonder how they will work that out.
ZitatPharmacy chain Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) announced Tuesday it would buy Rite Aid (RAD) for $9 per share.
The acquisition, first reported earlier Tuesday, would combine two of the largest U.S. drugstore chains. The price represents a 48 percent premium to Rite Aid's Monday closing price.
The deal's total enterprise value is $17.2 billion, including net acquired debt.
Where I am there are a lot more Rite Aids than Walgreens. If these two merge that leaves CVS as the only remaining pharmacy chain in the ares. Most of the small independent pharmacies have been driven out of business. One more step in the elimination of any semblance of a free market
