Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is a conservative hero and former tough prosecutor. He chairs the Benghazi committee and is Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare. And we hoped he would be the next Speaker of the U.S. House and perhaps serve as a future Attorney General.
But sadly, Gowdy just announced he won’t run for office again. It was just made clear on C-SPAN that he will retire at the end of this Congressional session and return to South Carolina.
“Trey wants to go back to South Carolina, and God bless him for that,” Fleming said on C-SPAN. When asked if that’s what Gowdy has told other Republicans, Fleming confirmed it.
“At the end of his term, yes,” he said. “He plans to go back home, and he wants to finish his work on the Benghazi special committee. But he loves South Carolina and he loves his family, and he wants to go back and spend the rest of his life there.”
“He’ll be sorely missed,” he added."
Trey Gowdy has always stood for conservative principles, and made his case in the public eye with considerable talent. He has advanced the cause, but like a true defender of the Constitution, he doesn’t believe in being a career politician.
Let us all pray for Trey Gowdy as he returns home to be with his family. May God bless him.
I was all ready to post that this is another possible "they got to him somehow" event. You know, like somebody "got" to John Roberts to "encourage" him to uphold Zero-care
You can't unring a bell...and something is definitely up. Is someone sending a signal to him? Is he being squeezed out? Does anyone else find it weird that a Rep from another state is issuing an unsolicited retirement announcement on his behalf? Shades of Frank Pentangeli...all that's missing is a horse's head.
I'd like to think Gowdy knows the importance of the Benghazi committee and plans to devote ALL his energy to that worthy effort. That's assuming Kevin McCarthy hasn't already doomed it to failure with his idiot remarks.
After that is finished, I wouldn't blame him if he hightailed it out of that den of corruption to return to his family and home.

Right, talk about not being able to "unring a bell"! Dang!!! How STUPID!!!
That guy just doomed his chances of becoming Speaker of the House.
And his backpedaling only made matters WORSE!!! Let's not get on another DUMB ASS!!!
