In a more perfect world both of these guys would lose the suit.
ZitatSean Penn is swinging back at director Lee Daniels for accusing him of being violent to women — hitting him with a $10 million defamation suit.
In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, the “Dead Man Walking” star says Daniels defamed him when he compared him to scandal-scarred “Empire” star Terrence Howard in a recent interview.
“That poor boy, (Terrence) ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f---in’ demon. That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America,” Daniels told the Hollywood Reporter.
The suit says the statements about Penn — “one of this generation’s most highly acclaimed and greatest artists and humanitarians” — are “reckless false and defamatory
I note the story also includes a nod to ultraLiberal Marlon "The Whale" Brando as an abuser. He's one of my favorites in the Liberal pantheon of heroes. Very active during the days of the Civil Rights movement, Brando was one of the preachiest and arrogant of the participants. Then after he made Mutiny of the Bounty he bought himself a private South Sea island where he lived with his entourage and one had to have special permission to even visit the place. No hypocrisy there, Marlon, none whatsoever.
I also note Daniels, who is black, got in the racism angle. Where would a story like this be without it? His concern for the women involved with these abusers is really quite touching indeed.
Penn is just a slug.
