"File this one under plans that just weren’t thought out fully.
The city of Tacoma is toying with the idea of public drop boxes for unwanted guns. That’s right, a public drop box, that people can put guns in, away from any law enforcement or real security.
According to local media reports:
“It takes out the up-front interaction with law enforcement,” said Melissa Cordeiro, gang reduction project coordinator for Tacoma.
“They would just have to drop the gun off and later law enforcement would swing by and pick it up out of the drop box,” she told KIRO Radio.
“It’s definitely something that is controlled access and one way,” Cordeiro said. “You can put something in, but you can’t take something out.”
Looks like a can opener could get into it. Dumbest idea ever.
========================================================================================== By the way, I'm growing rather weary of the cheap comparisons of Obama with Neville Chamberlain. The British Prime Minister got the biggest issue of the day wrong. But no one ever doubted that he loved his country. That's why, after his eviction from Downing Street, Churchill kept him on in his ministry as Lord President of the Council, and indeed made Chamberlain part of the five-man war cabinet and had him chair it during his frequent absences.
When he [Chamberlain} died of cancer in October 1940, Churchill wept over his coffin.
So please don't insult Neville Chamberlain by comparing him to Obama. -- Mark Steyn"
