An actress best known for her role in the Harry Potter film series said that she "had difficulty not wanting Boris Johnson to die."
On Friday, Miriam Margolyes, who played the character Professor Pomona Sprout in the wizard films, told a virtual panel on Britain's Channel 4 that she hoped for Prime Minster Boris Johnson's death while he struggled with the coronavirus in the hospital.
“I had difficulty not wanting Boris Johnson to die," said Margolyes. "I wanted him to die. And then, I thought, that would reflect badly on me, and I don't want to be the sort of person who wants people to die. So, then, I wanted him to get better, which he did do, he did get better, but he didn't get better as a human being. And I really would prefer that, so you know, we're in the shit basically here."

Johnson recently resumed his duties as prime minister after a bout with the coronavirus in late March.
British broadcaster Piers Morgan said he found Margolyes's comment about Johnson to be "disgusting."
"This is where toxic tribalism has got us," tweeted Morgan. "Actively wanting people of a different political persuasion to die. Shame on you Ms Margoyles."
