ZitatGREENVILLE, S.C. (ABC7) — A South Carolina man, who just yesterday went viral for buying $540 worth of Girl Scout cookies as an act of kindness, has been arrested on multiple serious drug charges, WSPA-TV reported Tuesday.
A viral Facebook post recounts that Detric McGowan originally bought seven boxes of cookies, which he paid for with $40, then returned to the girls and told them to pack up their remaining cookies. He wanted to buy them all so the girls could get out of the cold, the post explains.
WSPA reports that the next day, the DEA arrested McGowan on charges of conspiracy to manufacture heroin, cocaine and fentanyl. The DEA alleges that McGowan tried to import drugs from Mexico, and also conspired to smuggle more than a million dollars illegally.
