Korean War veteran and poet Samuel Fielder thanked President Trump for the return of fallen U.S. soldiers in an interview with The Daily Caller on Wednesday.
“I think Trump, right now, is the second father of our country,” Fielder said.
The interview took place as Vice President Mike Pence was receiving the remains of the Korean War heroes in Hawaii. The return of the remains of 55 U.S. servicemen was one of the promises made by Kim Jong Un at the historic summit that took place in June between the North Korean leader and President Trump.
“President Trump has done a great honor for this country,” Fielder, a former sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, told The Daily Caller. “He has fought for us, and he’s got these prisoners coming home, and all the people in the United States should be cheering and thanking him for it, not knocking him for it.”

Remains Believed To Be US Servicemen In North Korean War Returned To The US 12:25 PM 07/27/2018 Vandana Rambaran | Foreign Policy Reporter
The remains of what are believed to be 55 U.S. servicemen who fought in the Korean War were returned to the U.S. on Friday, as North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un upheld one of the promises he made to President Donald Trump during their historic summit in June.
“We are encouraged by North Korea’s actions and the momentum for positive change,” the White House said as the remains were flown out of Osan Air Base south of Seoul, South Korea.
The president tweeted about the return of remains on Friday, saying it will be a “great moment” for families of the fallen and thanked Kim.
The remains will be transferred to a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency in Hawaii, where forensic testing will be done to determine if they are in fact American soldiers.
