"Less than 72 hours remain in the corrupt Governorship of Dr John Kitzhaber and some may be thinking "How much damage can he do in the time remaining?". The answer is PLENTY!

Three dozen convicts sit on Oregon's death row. All of them richly deserve to die. That's not just my opinion. That's the conclusion of Oregon voters, the Oregon Courts, Oregon juries and the Oregon legislature.

But the man who championed assisting the suicide of innocent terminally ill Oregonians, Dr John Kitzhaber, believes those convicted criminals should not be put to death. He pulled a fast one on voters four years ago, not mentioning until he was already in office that he would refuse to execute death row inmates. Like many political elites, he would substitute the judgement of voters with his own and refuse to carry out the law...

Ordinarily, politics would keep a guy like Kitzhaber from commuting the sentences of disgusting killers like those on death row for fear of the political nightmare it causes for his fellow pols.

But Kitzhaber is in a unique position. He's angry with his former D Party allies, who dumped him in a short few hours last week. He's angry at the news media. He's facing down the barrel of federal charges that will send him to prison in the worst case scenario and merely bankrupt him politically and financially in the best.

What does he have to lose?

On the other hand, gutting the death sentences of a few dozen killers will make him a hero in the minds of some. And it may distract the media attention he and his girlfriend are getting

Let me remind you that another Governor, George Ryan of illinois, also facing prosecution, prison and ruin decided to free convicts from death row just 12 years ago. Kitzhaber could do the same."
