Copenhagen shooting: Gunmen kill one and injure three police officers at free speech event attended by cartoonist Lars Vilks
"Controversy" over the images? The shooters as usual yelled Allahu Akbar while they opened fire on a meeting devoted to free artistic expression. Vilks is believed to have been the intended target but maybe it was just the joy of killing for these Muslim cretins.
Mark Steyn has written a piece about this event, its background, and his connection with Vilks.
"In what is looking like a colossal blunder, the Copenhagen shooter was released from prison. This came after his violent history had been tracked by Danish officials. Yesterday Omar El-Hussein killed two and injured five others at a free speech conference and synagogue.
The 22 year old shooter had a long rapsheet and was under surveillance. The London Telegraph is reporting that he was released after serving a two year prison sentence for a violent crime. The shooter was born in Denmark and seemed to have been inspired by recent events:
“He was on the radar but he was not known to have travelled to conflict areas like Iraq or Syria,” Mr Madsen said. “We cannot yet say anything concrete about the motive … but we are considering that he might have been inspired by the events in Paris,” he told a news conference.
Mark Steyn offers a devastating column on these killings and the pusillanimous reaction of the Western elites. He winds up by saying, "The reaction of David Cameron and Helle Thorning-Schmidt suggests they have made their choice. I think, somewhere deep down, they know it's a recipe for slow societal suicide.", 'cause he's smart, like me.
ZitatMr Cameron now insists that the lesson of yesterday's attack is that "we must never allow" what he dignifies as his "values" to be "damaged" by such "acts of violence". His counterpart in Copenhagen, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, the tasty Danish pastry he and Obama spent Mandela's funeral doing selfies with, professed herself mystified by the slaughter:
"We don't know the motive for the attacks but we know that there are forces that want to harm Denmark, that want to crush our freedom of expression, our belief in liberty."
Hmm. "Forces that want to harm Denmark", huh? Any chance of pinning it down a little? It's not much of a "freedom of expression" or a "belief in liberty" that can't even talk honestly about its enemies, is it?
