Bubby Everson is about to turn nine, and all he wants for his birthday is mail. Not email, good old-fashioned snail mail.
Bubby is also terminally ill. He contracted Cytomegalovirus at birth and it will take his life. He has also been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, scoliosis, deafness and autism. He can have up to 10 seizures per day and is confined to a wheelchair for large stretches of the day because the scoliosis requires both his feet to be in casts.
Other than that, he spends as much of his time like any kid his age, playing video games and with Legos. But Bubby loves nothing more than when the mail comes.
So for this 9th birthday on Feb. 11, Bubby’s parents are asking people to send him a card, letter or really anything in the mail. His mother says even junk mail makes him smile. So with his birthday around the corner, the family has set up a PO Box and are asking people to send their son mail.
The address is:
Bubby Everson, P.O. Box 1142, Graham, WA 98338
Bubby loves stickers, so if you’re able to toss in a few of those too, all the better.
If you’d like to do more to help Bubby, his family has a “GoFundMe” page to raise money to build a sensory room, but even a letter or card will make his day.
When was the last time you sent a real letter to anyone? Why not take a minute to write a note wishing Bubby a happy 9th birthday? It’s not very often something so simple can do so much.
Consider sharing this story on Facebook so Bubby’s mailbox overruns with birthday wishes.
