It is not so much the story itself which caught my attention but rather this opening sentence: "A Catholic priest in Dublin has receiving a standing ovation from members of his church after revealing he is gay during mass." Outside of mass he is either straight, asexual, or completely confused.
The rest of the story is about how well received his confession was and how even the usually backward Irish have beome enlightened and just adore the idea of same sex marriage (except for the always reactionary Catholic Church).
ZitatOutside of mass he is either straight, asexual, or completely confused.
The tradition of celibate Catholic priests is Canon Law, not a dogma, which means it is not set in stone, and could change.
As a former Catholic, I believe the greater issue for the church should be accepting heterosexual marriage for priests.
Why can't priests marry and have families ?? Married priest is the more "natural" state, if that is their choice !!
Until the church comes out of the dark ages, the problem of harboring the asexual, homosexual and confused will only continue and increase the risk to children !!
