"LEGENDARY Australian actor Rod Taylor has passed away in the early hours of the morning US time after suffering from a heart attack.
The 84-year-old, who starred in Hollywood flicks including most recently Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, was said to have died at home in LA following a dinner party.
It was to have been his birthday on Sunday.
His daughter Felicia confirmed his death to CNN.
“My dad loved his work. Being an actor was his passion – calling it an honorable art and something he couldn’t live without,” Felicia, a former CNN News correspondent, said in a statement.
“He once said, ‘I am a poor student sitting at the feet of giants, yearning for their wisdom and begging for lessons that might one day make me a complete artist,” she continued, “ ‘so that if all goes well, I may one day sit beside them.”
Taylor gained his first major role in the 1960’s movie, The Time Machine, which put him on the map in Hollywood, then went on to hit the big time on the small screen with “Hong Kong.”
He later voiced a dog in 1961’s One Hundred and One Dalmations."
The death notice lists a number of his movies over the years but not my favorite, because it was so bad, "Hotel" (1967). Still he seemed like a likable fellow. RIP.
