Sorry, folks, hate to be a bearer of bad news of this first day of the brand new year, but it is what it is.
"The Obama administration is cramming like a college student trying to study for a final exam, publishing more than 1,200 new regulations in the last 15 days alone, according to data from Regulations.gov." [linked]
You will note these are "regulations" issued by the administration and its various bureaucracies, not laws voted on by your elected legislators. This goes beyond EOs and is the essence of despotism. Why do we even have a Congress?
Equally interesting are the new laws coming into effect in the states. The winner in that category is The People's Republic of California which will see over 900 new laws this year, including "a landmark proposition concerning animal welfare that was passed by California voters in 2008 goes into effect. It requires eggs laid or sold in the state to come from hens that have enough space to stand, turn around, lie down and stretch their limbs."; and "SB967, which requires the University of California and California State University schools, along with community colleges, to adopt an affirmative “yes means yes” standard of sexual consent between college students." which ought be a joy to enforce.
These measures, at least, result from legislative action which is a definite cut above the federal bureaucratic fiats. If that is what the people of CA want, they should have it. "Wholesale egg prices could rise as much as 40 percent this year as farmers make the necessary infrastructure changes to comply with the new law, the Times reported."
Two more articles about the massive number of regulations issued under Zero's reign. IIRC The massive increase in federal regulations began under Clinton and has continued unabted.
