If you don’t find SNL all that funny any more, former SNL star Rob Schneider agrees with you. He blames the politics.
The fun of ‘Saturday Night Live’ was always you never knew which way they leaned politically…
Debatable. Just ask Chevy Chase. You kind of assumed they would lean more left and liberal, but now the cat’s out of the bag they are completely against Trump, which I think makes it less interesting because you know the direction the piece is going. To me, the genius of Dana Carvey was Dana always had empathy for the people he played, and Alec Baldwin has nothing but a fuming, seething anger toward the person he plays. I don’t find his impression to be comical. Because, like I said, I know the way his politics lean and it spoils any surprise. There’s no possible surprise. He so clearly hates the man he’s playing.
Look, I’m not going to front and say I’ve ever found Rob Schneider funny. Norm MacDonald, always.

But his overall point about the show is spot on. There is a growing faction on the left that seems to believe comedy exists only to validate their worldview. Not to make people laugh. Even comedians like Jerry Seinfeld who don’t get political are attacked for not making Trump jokes. Most frighteningly, that faction on the left seems to be the one writing “comedy” shows.
Comedy is for jokes. Comedy is to make people laugh. First and foremost. When “comedy” ceases to be funny, it’s not comedy. Shouldn’t be as hard concept as, say, arguing over the number of genders. Two. There are two. No matter how confused you were about your PE teacher.
It’s a scary time for comedy. And an important time for comedians to stand up and not take s*** from progressive hecklers.

And John Porter wrote this article and Rob Schneider said these things BEFORE the Saturday night's White House Correspondents’ Dinner which featured "alleged" comedienne Michelle Wolf's savage personal attack on Sarah Huckabee Sanders in the name of humor.
NOW, it's even more obvious!
After the WHCD, Michelle Wolf joined the ranks of has-been comediennes who dared to step out on Donald Trump's third rail.
