Another of my cherished beliefs shot all to hell. Or is Wozniak bending the truth so the house (designated an historic site) can have some work done on it?
"The story of Apple starting in a garage—which inspired a film—is not 100 percent true. The giant tech company did not really start in a garage.
Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, debunked the myth behind Apple's origin story in an interview with Bloomberg TV. [linked]
"The garage is a bit of a myth, it's overblown," Wozniak said. "The garage represents us better than anything else, but we did no designs there. We would drive the finished products to the garage, make them work, and then we'd drive them down to the store that paid us cash."
The garage in Steve Job's childhood home is considered to be the site where the "Apple Computer Company was founded and the first 50 to 100 Apple computers were assembled," according to the historic commission in Los Altos, Calif.
The historic commission named the home in Los Altos, Calif., a historic site in 2013, but Wozniak says the place was hardly a motivational place to work at.
"There were hardly ever more than two people in the garage," Wozniak said. "Mostly they were just sitting around doing nothing productive."
Aside from the historic site title, the garage was also depicted in the film "Jobs," staring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs and Josh Gad as Steve Wozniak.
There's been no news on whether the new title on the home will be revoked, but it probably won't since it's still considered to be a representation of Apple, like Wozniak said."
ZitatWe would drive the finished products to the garage, make them work....
So they were not finished products until they were worked on in the garage. Sounds like the the garage WAS the catalyst for the beginning of the dreaded, awful Apple computer.
Sounds like Woz took some bad coke at US Fest and it scrambled his mind.
