I take this as a sure sign WH polls show Moore is going to win.
ZitatPresident Donald Trump on Monday officially endorsed embattled Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused of sexual misconduct with teenage girls decades ago.
Conservative pastor and political commentator Chuck Baldwin has this to say about this belated endorsement. It's not so good and hard to refute.
ZitatDonald Trump's belated endorsement of Judge Roy Moore: my take.
One week from the election, Donald Trump FINALLY came out and publicly endorsed Judge Roy Moore. I know a lot of folks who are celebrating and saying what a great guy Trump is for making this endorsement.
We need a little dose of reality:
1. Trump endorsed Moore's opponent, establishment toady Luther Strange, and did EVERYTHING he could do to defeat Judge Moore in the primary election. He even sent Vice President Mike Pence to Alabama to also stump for Luther Strange. Trump's effort to defeat Judge Moore colluded with Mitch's McConnell's (and the entire Republican establishment) decision to spend over $30 million dollars to try and DEFEAT Judge Moore.
2. Before Roy Moore won the primary election, Trump promised that if Moore won he would "campaign like hell for him." FACT: Trump did absolutely NOTHING for Judge Moore. He even sat silent and said NOTHING when the RNC withheld all financial support from Judge Moore. He left Roy Moore to rot on the vine and die from all of the scurrilous accusations made against him.
3. Now, with only a week to go from the election, polls indicate that Judge Moore is going to WIN the election in spite of the Republican Party and President Trump doing NOTHING to help him (and even working against him.) So, Trump suddenly decided to endorse Roy Moore. Anyone who thinks this is a sincere endorsement is MORE than naive.
4. As soon as Trump announced his endorsement of Moore, McConnell and Company announced that they will resume financial funding of his campaign. This timing of this is NOT a coincidence.
5. Trump and McConnell believe Moore is going to win, and they are now trying to salvage credibility with him (AND the Republican voters in Alabama who stuck by Roy Moore) in order to be able to convince him they are on his side so as to be able to influence him after he's elected. This is nothing more than political posturing through and through. It's disgusting to the hilt. And, sadly, a host of Christians and conservatives are falling for it like Humpty Dumpty falling off the wall.
During this final week of campaigning, Roy will need to play along, of course, but I sure hope he sees through this phony charade, because it is an absolute fact that a true constitutionalist's greatest enemies are within the Republican Party.
In understand where Baldwin is coming from. He is evaluating Trump from the stand point of 100% of the changes needed. We need people to point out areas where Trumps actions are less than what we desire. However IMHO considering the unprecedented obstructions put in the way of the Trump agenda by both parties, the MSM, the judiciary legislating from the bench, and the entertainment media I am surprised how much has been accomplished in shrinking the swamp. http://www.wnd.com/2017/11/4621979/
The swamp did come into existence overnight. The only way to eliminate on a short term basis would be to install a benevolent dictator - a very bad precedent.

I wouldn’t say Trump did everything he could to defeat Moore in the primary.
IIRC Trump’s one rally contained a tepid endorsement along the lines I promised Strange but both are good candidates.

I tried tracing funding. It seems that Strange was funded by the Senate Leadership Fund, the RNC, and some independent groups. It all got very convoluted. I could not determine who decides who gets money from the RNC. The SLF is a super PAC that is closely associated with McConnell who I suspect has great influence. I could not determine if Trump could influence the spending of any of these entities.
I would rather have seen Trump ‘campaign like hell for Moore’; I wonder if the fact Trump is in between a rock, a hard place, and the edge of a cliff has affected this. After all Trump seems to be trying to do things in a constitutional manner and needs the cooperation of the congress. How far can he go to alienate the Rhinos whose cooperation he needs?
The fact that Bannon and Moore are no longer part of the administration allows them to strongly go to bat for candidates who will help promote the Trump agenda without Trump’s direct involvement.

I don’t think looking behind Trumps actions is necessarily naïve. For example I suspect all Trump’s outrageous tweets are purposeful distractions for the political elite, MSM, the PTB, and the entertainment media.

I suspect nothing is politics is a coincidence. It does not automatically follow that Trumps is able to direct the spending of the RNC or SLF.
