I don't build any credibility on words from this incurably partisan liar. To hear him berate someone for lying isn't meaningful as he is himself one of the greatest liars of my life.
So what's he up to? I have no idea why he's saying these things now. He's a has-been whose political life is over but he's still hanging around to bother people and to see if he can get some attention once more. That's my best guess. It's not about anything moral.
