Well it looks like Israel is taking this ceasefire proposal seriously, as Netanyahu’s cabinet will convene at 7am (12am ET) to discuss it:
ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS – The Security Cabinet will meet on Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. to discuss the details of the Egyptian proposal which calls for a ceasefire in Gaza.
A senior minister said on Monday evening that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu favors the Egyptian proposal and will bring it up to a vote and approval at the meeting.
CNN spoke with former Israeli Ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, to get some perspective on this proposal by Egypt, and Oren has some interesting things to say about it. Namely, a big difference in this proposal and the one in 2012 is this one begins with a ceasefire and then the details are hammered out. In 2012, Oren notes that Hillary Clinton had to run back and forth ironing out the details before any ceasefire could be achieved.
