Angry SJWs Take Over Western Civ Class Because Course is ‘Eurocentric’ Um, it's Western Civ. What other kind of "-centric" did they think it would be? 9.15.2017 Trey Sanchez
large group of angry social justice brats at Reed College in Portland stormed a Western Civ classroom to protest the course because it is “Eurocentric” and “perpetuates white supremacy.”
The group calls itself “Reedies Against Racism” but they ought to be called “Reedies Against Education” because they shut down the required class for freshmen and ran off the professor. The group started protesting the course last year and had remained silent while doing so. This year, they were back with their signs and their voices.
Video of the initial takeover (above) was published on YouTube. This was to be the class’s first lecture to a room of 300 eager-to-learn freshmen. Just as the panel got settled, the Reedies stormed in and grabbed all available microphones to declare why they were there. The professor quickly shutdown the class realizing it would be impossible to talk over the protesters, and the invited speakers all left the room. Before leaving, a female lecturer apologized to students, “Sorry you missed the chance to learn.”
Soon, the room filled with dozens of protesters holding various social justice signage. A female student explained to the freshmen class “all they needed to know” about Hum 110 — that is, it’s all about white people and because of that, the class needs to be reformed and restructured to include peoples of color.
In a second video (below), the Reedies were back in the classroom two days later with their “don’t teach white supremacy” signs and a lot more attitude. Thankfully, the freshman class wasn’t on their side and fought to regain control of the class they’re paying for.
“This is a classroom,” a freshman student shouts at around seven minutes into the video. “This is not the place! Right now, we are trying to learn!”
Another tells the protesters, “We would like the opportunity to attend class before we’re told what’s in it.”
Eventually, the professor is allowed to resume the class teaching the epic of Gilgamesh, but the protesters remained up front, sitting on the floor with signs visible.
Now let me see. This is a Western Civ class and its content is "Eurocentric"? Yes, it's subtle, but the underlying white supremacy is definitely there.
Btw, can anyone tell me why these little cretins weren't arrested, and, if actually students, expelled; and the whole bunch given 60 days helping fight the fires plaguing OR?
ZitatThe president of Lipscomb University issued a public apology after an untold number of African American students were offended by a dinner table centerpiece made from stalks of cotton.
Yes, good readers – a group of college students was triggered by the fabric of our lives
Randy Lowry, president of the Christian university based in Nashville, had invited African American students to his home for dinner last week.
One student who attended the gathering posted a diatribe on Instagram – along with a photo of the “offensive” centerpiece.
“We were very offended,” the student wrote. “My friend … asked why there was cotton on the table as the centerpiece. His response was that he didn’t know, he seen it before we did, he kind of thought it was ‘fallish’, THEN he said, “it ISNT INHERENTLY BAD IF WERE ALL WEARING IT.”
The students were also angered by the home-cooked meal they were served.
“The meals that were provided resembled many ‘black meals’ they had mac n cheese, collard greens, corn bread, etc.,” the student wrote.
President Lowry posted an apology on the university’s Facebook page.
“The content of the centerpieces was offensive, and I could have handled the situation with more sensitivity,” he wrote. “I sincerely apologize for the discomfort, anger or disappointment we caused and solicit your forgiveness.”
Triggered Leftist Deems Hobby Lobby Cotton Decoration ‘Racist’ Sticks of fake cotton labeled ‘offensive’ to black people Adan Salazar September 18, 2017
Black people should take offense to cotton decorations sold at Hobby Lobby, a Texas woman insists.
A Facebook post which went viral over the weekend singled out faux cotton stems purveyed at Hobby Lobby as “Wrong on so many levels.”
“This decor is WRONG on SO many levels,” Facebook user Daniell Rider said, captioning a photo of cotton stems taken inside Hobby Lobby.
“There is nothing decorative about raw cotton… A commodity which was gained at the expense of African-American slaves,” Rider asserted.
“A little sensitivity goes a long way. PLEASE REMOVE THIS ‘decor’,” she wrote.
Rider’s post, which she directed at Hobby Lobby, as of writing has received over 15 thousand shares and over 71 thousand likes.
Many, however, disagreed that the cotton was intended to offend.
“I love cotton. My Mom , aunts, uncles, and grandparents grew and picked cotton. None of them are African or slaves! Don’t like it don’t buy it!!” one woman said in Facebook comments, while another person agreed, “This has to be a joke!”
“I am so sick of everyone being offended by everything. This post is ridiculous!” complained another person.
