This is kind of trivial but sometimes I like trivia.
Today id Friday the 13th, June, 20014. There is going to be a full moon tonight.
The last time there was a full moon on a Friday the 13th in June was almost a hundred years ago. The full moon in June is called a Honey Moon.
A full moon is to appear on Friday 13th in June for the first time in almost 100 years, and the rare celestial event will be broadcast live online.
The full 'Honey Moon' – the June full moon – has not fallen on a Friday 13th since 1919 and the next one will not take place until 2098.
During the Honey Moon, the moon appears to have a honey or champagne color because it is low on the horizon, so light has to travel further to reach Earth.
The June full moon is dubbed the Honey Moon because bee hives are full of honey at this time of year. Traditionally the honey would have been made into mead, which was drunk after weddings held on Summer Solstice on 21 June, Veraveg.org reports.
It also marks the moon being at its lowest point in the sky for a full moon of the year, appearing just 12 degrees above the horizon.
"The June full moon is nicknamed the "Strawberry Moon," a moniker that goes back to the Algonquin Native American tribe, according to the Farmer's Almanac. June is strawberry season, and the full moon would have traditionally coincided with the harvest."
My source may be dubious, however, as it also states, "Despite many myths, the full moon does not actually embolden criminals, bring about births or make people mad, studies show. And while Friday the 13th superstitions may be well entrenched, there's nothing particularly special about a full moon falling on this date." Everyone knows that's just crazy talk right there.
