ZitatSEATTLE – Demonstrators took to the streets Friday demanding the release of a 23-year-old Dreamer who was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement this week in Des Moines, Washington.
Daniel Ramirez Medina was taken into custody during an operation targeting his father, a previously deported felon convicted of drug trafficking, according to ICE. ICE says Medina admitted to being in a gang. His attorneys say that claim is unequivocally false.
Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant who led the crowd spoke outside the federal court house where Medina’s case was heard by a federal judge.
“When I heard that a Dreamer, a DOCA recipient who has the legal right to stay and work here, has been seized by ICE it sent a chill through my spine. And it is sending a chill throughout our immigrant and people of color communities, and we have to fight back,” said Sawant.
She called for action by Seattle’s mayor to block further ICE raids.
“I’m urging Mayor Murray – if this is a sanctuary city – do not use Seattle police against peaceful protesters. Furthermore, deploy Seattle police to block ICE from seizing immigrants.”
Sawant, you may recall, is the avowed Socialist the doofuses that infest Seattle elected to their city council. Did you know she's not even an American by birth. She's an immigrant form lovely India and instead of going there and straightening out the mess that is that country, she is blessing us with her infinite wisdom. Thanks, Seattle.
"I was part of a 30 million woman march in November. We marched our asses right into a voting booth and voted for President Trump".
ZitatAn effort to recall Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant is gaining momentum.
An online petition has more than 19,000 signatures as of February 19, with a goal of reaching 25,000. It launched after the socialist councilmember urged people to protest the election of Donald Trump on his inauguration day.
The group wants to send a message to Seattle Mayor Ed Murray that Sawant should be impeached because they believe it's not appropriate for elected officials to call for protests.
The online petition reads:
"Kshama Sawant is not respecting the will of the people. She's using her platform to incite violence and call for protests and riots. Our elected officials should be helping and bringing people together in our communities not promoting hate towards our democracy. Whether you like the outcome or not of the election, we look upon our officials to follow the laws of this country. Let's help bring people together and follow the laws to get things done not promote hate and dismay because this election did not go her way. Let's send a message to our local Mayor that she should step down from her position or be impeached. It is not appropriate for elected officials to call for protests."
