ZitatAmy Schumer’s next movie role may see the actress, producer and comedian getting dolled up.
The Trainwreck star is in talks to play a real-life Barbie in Sony’s live-action Barbie movie, USA TODAY has confirmed with Schumer’s rep, Carrie Byalick.
Slated for a summer 2018 release, the long-simmering film is the first-ever live-action adaptation for the Mattel toy and will follow the lead character as she is exiled from Barbieland for failing to meet the benchmark of perfection and forced to travel to the real world, where she learns to embrace herself. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the film is meant to serve as a "contemporary spin on beauty, feminism, and identity," issues Mattel has at times struggled to navigate
Zitat a "contemporary spin on beauty, feminism, and identity,"
And there's a rumor that Amy's wonderfulicious cousin, Chuckie, will play a cameo as the magical prince, and Alec Baldwin will reprise his SNL role as the evil Donald J. Trump
So here's the plot:
Aging beauty Barbie (after all, she was introduced in 1960) is played by the lovely Amy. It develops that she is banished from beauty pageant La La land by the evil Dr. Trump (Baldwin), who tweets about her putting on weight. Of course that happens in NY, and beautiful Amy is left to wander aimlessly westward - through flyover country. The next part of the movie follows Amy/Barbie and her encounters with terrible evil racists and deplorables.
Of course the brilliant and beautiful (in a contemporary way) Barbie uses each encounter to educate those hayseeds. Most of the dialog in those encounters is gleaned from material contained in Amy Schumer's stand up routines (WARNING: Even though this movie is ostensibly about a child's toy, you'd better leave the kiddies at home)
The movie concludes with the contemporary and beautiful Barbie reaching the land of OZ - the nirvana of nirvanas - Hollywood.
There, she meets the prince (played by Chuckie) who is also a magician.
I won't spoil the ending, in case anyone wants to actually go see this masterpiece. But if you don't, here's still from the final scene, where the formerly beautiful Barbie is turned into a REAL beauty . . .
