Who is Thomas Gibson??? That's what I said. But then I saw his picture. Oh!!! that guy, not "Hotch" !!! oh dear, my wife will be so sad. ...at least it wasn't "Garcia" getting fired, her other favorite. He'll be back though ...right??? TM *********
Thomas Gibson has been fired from “Criminal Minds” following an on-set fight.
“Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from ‘Criminal Minds,'” ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios said in a joint statement Friday. “Creative details for how the character’s exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.”
Gibson, 54, was initially suspended for two episodes of the CBS series after a physical altercation with co-executive producer and writer Virgil Williams two weeks ago.
On Friday, Gibson told Page Six in a statement, “I love ‘Criminal Minds’ and have put my heart and soul into it for the last 12 years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have.”
The actor had previous on-set outbursts, TMZ reported, including one in which he pushed an assistant director and was subsequently sent to anger management courses.
But a source close to Gibson insisted on Thursday that the incident with Williams wasn’t the star’s fault. “[Williams] got very aggressive, so Thomas walked away and then he felt like the guy was coming after him,” the source told us. “He turned around and kicked just on instinct, like a reflex.”
******* "Maybe God is trying to tell us something important- that now is not the time for a “nice Christian guy” or a “gentleman” or a typical Republican powder puff. Maybe now is the time for a natural born killer, a ruthless fighter, a warrior. Because right about now we need a miracle, or America is finished. Maybe the rules of gentleman don’t apply here. Maybe a gentleman and “all-around nice Christian” would lead us to slaughter." Wayne Allyn Root
Sorry to hear this. I've liked Gibson since he costarred with Jenna Elfman on "Dharma & Greg". His current show "Criminal Minds" I didn't like so much, but apparently it is quite popular and is in reruns all over the place. Gibson, though, seemed like a likable fellow. Unfortunately he also seems to have quite a temper. Or maybe it's a diva attitude as he's been with the show since its inception and probably feels he should have greater say in how his part is presented.
TM, you say your wife will be sad over his leaving as she would be if "Garcia" left. But what about pretty boy Shemar Moore who is also departing? She careth not, or won't admit it to you? Lol.
These major character departures may indicate the show is on its last legs, but they had a good run.
