The embarrassing moment Team USA basketball stars found themselves in a Rio brothel 'that they thought was a spa'
A mistake anyone could make especially the sweet innocents who make up our basketball team.
ZitatThis could be the embarrassing moment three of America's top basketball players allegedly found themselves standing in one of Rio's most notorious brothels.
The newly emerged photo appears to show USA men's team player DeAndre Jordan and other players in Termas Monte Carlo, a 'high-end brothel' in the Olympic city.
According to reports, Jordan and at least two other members of the team - DeMarcus 'Boogie' Cousins and DeMar Derozan - were spotted in the fake 'spa' on Wednesday night.
The men may have been joined by another three players, though this has not been confirmed.
According to TMZ, the gentleman's club presents itself as a spa, and staff have been instructed to give callers that line.
The only indication of the shop's true purpose is when callers are told that it is for men only, and stocks a full bar.
The basketball team say the players took staff at their word and didn't realize what they were walking into until they arrived.
The lads departed as soon as they realized the true nature of this establishment and, virtue intact, went on to beat the stuffing out of China's national team later that day.
Reminds me of a time my wife and I were vacationing in Maryland. She decided she needed a new book to read as we traveled. I spotted a book store, pulled in, she hopped out and I waited for her in the car. Suddenly she was back in the car? "What happened?" I asked It was the wrong kind of book store. She walked in and all the guys were staring at her, I suppose licking their chops. We laughed pretty good! ...and from now on the rule is, any book store has to say more than "BOOKS" on the sign.
I'm sure those poor basketball players were just as embarrassed, don't you think?
******* "Maybe God is trying to tell us something important- that now is not the time for a “nice Christian guy” or a “gentleman” or a typical Republican powder puff. Maybe now is the time for a natural born killer, a ruthless fighter, a warrior. Because right about now we need a miracle, or America is finished. Maybe the rules of gentleman don’t apply here. Maybe a gentleman and “all-around nice Christian” would lead us to slaughter." Wayne Allyn Root
The whole affair reminds me of a story told by one of my favorite actors, David Niven. This is from memory from one of his autobiographies (good reads, btw) so may have some errors but is basically correct, especially at the end.
In any case David and his wife were visiting Rio when she said she wanted to go to a certain place she heard had very good food. David knew the place she wanted to go was a well known and exclusive brothel, but she insisted, so go they did. As soon as they walked in all the girls began greeting Niven as if he were an old friend. He was shocked as he claimed to her he knew no one there. Nonetheless the women continued greeting him warmly throughout the facility and his wife began questioning him about their familiarity and friendliness. Stammering his innocence, the truth was finally revealed. The whole event had been staged by Errol Flynn and his wife as a practical joke.
